Post by Amber Kluczynski 3 days ago D10 I have seen a lot of studies that correlate aggression with video games that say that video games with violence do make kids more prone to violence. My thought on the matter would be age. If a young kid around 6 is playing games where there are guns and murder they are going to be accepting of that. I work with kids in the day care that are school age and I can tell the ones that play the violent video games versus those who play the games that are more for fun learning. As far as it contributing to cause ODD I don’t think the games are internally to blame if they are to blame at all. Or even they don’t want to admit that maybe their parenting style wasn’t best for their child. So, they take them to the doctor and tells them somethings wrong. And no doctor isn’t going to try and “correct” the problem with medicine first thing. I think that videogames are just another scapegoat. When dealing with kids with emotional problems I feel that a more holistic approach is necessary. Start with home life, maybe even have the parents go to consoling to make sure that they aren’t the underlining issue. Then from there evaluate the child, see when they act out. Is it when their parents have been gone for a long time. Or maybe the single parent who is doing all they can to help the child is just not able to do enough for what that kid needs. I was watching the bachelorette today, and one of the guys when he was 7 years old found his brother hanging in the tree dead. After his death, he turned to the thug life, eventually he got caught up and when he was in court the judge took him asside and told the boy that he was not a thug, he had straight As he was better than that.
