Why Do Students Take PARCC?

If many people don't like PARCC and are having issues, then why do students take PARCC? PARCC is a state test that students take in the spring. PARCC is given to students from third grade to twelfth grade. There are assessments in Mathematics and English. States base the content of PARCC on what it takes to be successful in college and careers in the future. Common Core State Standards try to make it certain that state standards are present in all of the classrooms. PARCC assessments have been given to schools in Ohio, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, and New Jersey so far during the 2014-2015 school year. "There is a monster waiting for you in the spring," said a parent. This monster is PARCC, and they call it a monster is because some children are afraid of not doing well. A teacher and parent protracted a standardized test for "below average" freshman for one year. “Nearly seventy percent of our students are expected to fail this high-stakes test, paving the way, to be sure, for more Pearson educational products in our schools,” said Kyle. Teachers and the state have sacrificed all students’ joy of learning. When children take PARCC, teachers and parents watch their children to come home worried to take PARCC another time.

PARCC is a time waster, and students will miss great deal class time because of it. On average students will miss six weeks of class to prepare for tests. Students will lose seven to eight days to take the test while only having it for seventy-five minutes each day. School administrators say students only have seventy five minutes to complete the PARCC test. PARCC is only $17-19 per student, and it saves trees because students take it on a computer. Even if PARCC is cheap, PARCC is on a computer. If it's on a computer, school districts have to pay for those computers, if they don't have them already. "Ohio House is in loss of $750 million for PARCC tests." That means less money for new school supplies or other new devices for the school, including new classrooms and additional features for the building.

Students are able to review their questions and use many different tools. Yes, students are able to review their test. PARCC tells students when a question is unanswered, but there are things that are bad about using the tools that can help and hurt students. When students use the tools, students could make a mistake and not know how to fix it. The teacher can not help the students because the test is for not only Mathematics and Language arts, but also for their use in technology.

PARCC shouldn't be a test. Standardized testing should not take place in schools because they judge students and teachers, PARCC is a big time waster, and there are many technical issues. PARCC is made by the Pearson. Pearson also makes educational textbooks, so they are using their own curriculum, so they don't know the pace of the student learning. The teachers know, but PARCC doesn't. Think; why is PARCC doing this? To make money or to help students
