Why Queen Elizabeth I did not marry? Some people say: “she married her country” well, of course, she married her country, it was her job and she didn't marry anyone else, but go deeper, what actually made her do it? Was it for the power? Was she scared? I couldn't settle with just one because I don't think a woman as intelligent as she was, just came up with that decision based on one single aspect. This is why I found three main reasons I believe in.

Let's remember the gender roles of the time, when women were expected to believe they were inferior to men and they had to obey them. It is strategy because while they waited the Queen for an answer, they wouldn’t attack England. If a country that had a possible suitor attacked England, the possibility of getting married to Elizabeth would have dies, so this putted England in a great political position. Even if her decision of not getting married wasn’t mainly this, it was definitely a plus to her government.

Last but not least, she could have been afraid of marriage because she grew up surrounded by failing marriages. Her father for example, executed her mom and stepmother because of adultery when Elizabeth really young. Another example could have been her sister Mary and her failed marriage to Philip of Spain. I like this theory the most because I think it represents a human being, not some selfish Queen that didn’t married because she wanted all the power for herself. She was a normal women who was afraid of getting hurt in a marriage due to what she grew up to believe.

The reasons previously explained could perfectly work together and make up someone’s mind. This is why I believe Queen Elizabeth didn’t have just one reason for the decision she made and I think that choosing just one is not right because it must have been a hard decision to make and it couldn’t have been possible for her to decided this based in one aspect of her
