Introduction: There are several reasons as to why college athletes should get paid. They deserve to get paid for all the entertainment and the publicity they provide for their university and the rest of the country.
Attention Getter: According to an NCAA study on the experiences of college athletes have revealed that 60% of student athletes reported viewing themselves “more as athletes than students.”
Thesis Statement: As a studious college athlete, it’s hard to imagine all of the time they put in for homework, studying, athletic events, and their daily lives. They should get paid because they don’t often have enough time for a job and money to afford the simple things they want.

i. There are approximately 400,000 college athletes who are not getting paid for performing for their university/college. ii. If the college is earning money from those athletes, then that means that those athletes should get a portion of that. iii. College athletes, who put in the time and effort to keep their grades up and perform for their team, earn the right to get paid at least minimum wage for all of the hours they put in.
III. It isn’t fair and equal that the coaches, trainers, and the rest of their staff get paid, while the ones doing the physically hard demanding work get nothing.

Aren’t they already receiving benefits from a full-ride scholarship? But then an athlete will get caught up in a scandal like Johnny Manziel, where he signed footballs for money.. then you think well why shouldn’t he receive that money? And you then contradict yourself. But shouldn’t they receive money from outside sources, and then the benefits from the school.
