Athletes are more than just people that play sports. Athletes are people that balance their lives with their extracurricular activities and events. All athletes know that “Success for an athlete follows many years of hard work and dedication” (Michael Diamond) all athletes work hard in every aspect. Participating in sports allows students to be benefited in many different ways throughout their lives. Sports should be included in a students curriculum as it benefits them in all areas of success. Winning is fun for kids and coaches but coaches care more about effort than they do wins so sports teach kids about hard work. When kids have to work hard for something it teaches them that they can get rewards for their hard work like more playing time or better results. Failure in school can be fixed or hidden from classmates, “But in sports there is no escaping failure” everyone sees if you mess up or make a mistake (Brooks). Kids also learn that they have to be responsible enough to keep up their grades and mange other activities. When children play a team sport they are able to see that their decisions and actions can effect others such as their teammates. This research proves that from sports comes responsibilities and children can learn that they are responsible for their actions. Sports can be too much on some kids and create more stress than it does responsibility. Although sports can create stress, it also helps children’s learn how to manage their time and how to take
