Why are you interested in the given major?
I'm interested in science because I thoroughly enjoyed my first experience with scientific research. However, I’ve constantly attended events advocating education and minority rights with Promise Neighborhood, so I also see a future in political science. Overall, I'm interested in studying about mental disorder such as depression, autism, schizophrenia, alzheimer, and anxiety, especially since I’ve dealt with a few myself and I have family who has been diagnosed with these disorders. I wish to study the brain not only from a biological perspective, but also form a logical and social perspective. I hope to become involved

I hope my hard work is seen despite the little things that impose a challenge to my education. I am always searching for opportunities, such as internships and enrichment programs. Outside of academics, I enjoy time with my family and being involved in sports along with volunteer opportunities in my communities. Volunteering is a principle my mom has instilled me because she's always inclined with the community and my school.
What have been your most valuable experiences while in high school? Is there any specific situation that you are proud of overcoming? Please explain.
The most valuable experience while in high schools has been my internship at the Salk Institute. In this internship, I got hands on lab experience and got to work on my own project (which, from my understanding, you don't even get to do on your first year of college.) I collaborated with other students in different district and had to learn to present and communicate my ideas and finding to a group of research scientist and other high school students. I attended enriching courses and seminar such as the “Women In Science Seminar” or “The Different Path to Science” Panel.” This experienced reinforced my interest for science. However, aside from science,this internship was also a culture shock. I met people and PhD students from Spain, Germany Peru and other areas of the world,
