What makes someone a hero? A hero isn’t a celebrity or someone who can fly, have super speed, or shoot lasers out of their eyes. A hero is just an ordinary citizen that fights to solve a widespread issue in today’s society. A hero is an ordinary individual who rises to the occasion and fights the issues with superhero behavior, without the actual super powers. A hero is someone just similar to everyone else, but when they see a problem they have the bravery to step up and fix it without thinking twice. In the United States, a hero is someone whose character and qualities inspire others to live in life with fulfillment and compassion. I believe a hero isn’t someone who is frightened to be who they are, but someone who embraces it. I believe that qualifies someone as a hero because the citizens around them witness their confidence and fulfillment and it makes them feel as if it is okay to be who they really are. Anyone who makes someone else feel comfortable in their own skin is a superior person and a hero in my eyes. Michael from “Crazy Courage” is the kind of person that many people look up to, and the type of person I consider a hero. Michael dressed and acted femininity without any embarrassment; he embraced it with dignity and pride. Many people should look up to him as a role model and hero because he did what many people are afraid to do, and in doing that he is an inspiration to many. (Villanueva 207-208) Hero’s are people that are seen every day in ordinary places. Hero’s are people that assist others without even thinking twice about it. When someone stands up for another person I consider them to be a hero since they had the courage to stand up for what they believe is right, while others may stand on the side and d... ... middle of paper ... ...ho have the courage to stand up and solve today’s issues. Hero’s are not uncommon and they can be found anywhere. A hero can’t be determined by the size of their act, but the taught behind it. Small acts that go unnoticed to changing history as we know it are all considered heroic acts in my eyes and they inspire me every day. Who is a hero? In contemporary times, usage of the term has become somewhat of a cliché. Over the years, the term “hero” has become representative of a wide variety of individuals, each possessing differing traits. Some of the answers put forth by my colleagues (during our in-class discussion on heroism) as to whom they consider heroes pointed to celebrities, athletes, teachers and family members. Although the occupations differed, each of their heroes bore qualities that my classmates perceived as extraordinary, whether morally or physically. Nonetheless, Webster’s defines “hero” as “a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities.” Thus, it is worth considering that individuals become heroes relative to the situation with which they’re faced.
Have you ever wondered “what is a hero?” A hero is a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities. “There are five qualities that truly heroic leaders have in common. Courage, selflessness, humility, patience, and caring” (Murphy) When I think of hero’s
What is a hero? A hero can be classified as a number of things. A hero can be a person who in the opinions of others has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal. Ervin Staub, a holocaust survivor from Hungary and as scholar on altruistic behavior, has written, "Goodness like evil often begins in small steps. Heroes evolve; they aren't born. Very often the rescuers make only a small commitment at the start, to hide someone for a day or two. But once they had taken that step, they begin to see themselves differently, as someone who helps. What starts as mere willingness becomes intense involvement." The business man, Oskar Schindler, demonstrated a powerful example
A hero is someone who works hard to achieve goals while making the right decision. For example a hero inspires other people to do the right thing. Tristan Seger, a man who had lost his in leg in the military, inspires people everyday to push through rough times. In the article Soldier home after losing his leg in Afghanistan states “I just kept telling the doctors that I didn’t want my life to be different than it was before.” After Seger lost his leg he still continued life by running marathons, wearing shorts, and driving his car with a special pedal made just for him. A hero is also someone who helps people, because they want to. For instance doctors save people’s lives everyday. They work so hard everyday to try and find cures for
In my opinion, a hero is someone who is noble, selfless, brave and honest. A hero is someone who fights for their beliefs no matter what happens. They put the needs of others before themselves and is dedicated into helping others. He/she contributes to humanity and is always aware of the different consequences, good or bad, that can occur as a result of their actions.
“A hero is somebody who is selfless, who is generous in spirit, who just tries to give back as much as possible and help people,” Debi Mazar. I fully agree with Mazar, as all true heroes do not just think of themselves, but they focus on others, looking to help. Heroism is taking others’ needs into consideration before your own, helping others in a multitude of ways, and sacrificing something―or yourself―for others.
They have amazing determination even though there might be consequences. Without a true hero, the world would fall apart in all the world's evils. Many of us do not realize it but no one would be able to live a healthy happy life. People's selfishness will poison many people's minds with cruelty and greedy that it will impact society and the world in a drastic way. A true hero would not let our world
Many people have a little bit of hero inside them , but just some people show it. What makes a hero is the importance and care a person gives to another who need of their help.
What is a hero? In America’s society today a hero can be any number of people. The word hero seems to be frequently implied to celebrities and sports icons because of all the fame they possess. For most people this may be the result of the fact that celebrities amaze and awe the everyday people of this country. It is very rare that you hear an ordinary person be called a hero. To me a hero is more than just a famous face. A hero is a person who is willing to sacrifice their own wants and needs to better the community, town, or country they are a part of.
Ricky Martin once said, "Heroes represent the best of ourselves, respecting that we are human beings. A hero can be anyone from Gandhi to your classroom teacher, anyone who can show courage when faced with a problem. A hero is someone who is willing to help others in his or her best capacity." A hero can be anyone in everyday life. "A hero does good for good, not for glory." A hero does not expect rewards for their actions; a hero does something because it is right. A hero perseveres when faced with adversity. No matter the physical and mental difficulties, a hero continues trying until their goal is reached. Heroism is acts of kindness, no matter how small, and no matter from whom it comes.
Against many people’s beliefs, to be a hero you do not need to save people from burning buildings, have superpowers or anything like that. It doesn't even take a model citizen to be somebody's hero. A hero can just be an everyday person who you want to model your life after. Heroes are usually noble and and make good decisions in life. Although they are not perfect, they portray what it means to be a good person.
What is a hero? I believe a hero is someone who always tries their best, never gives up and has great achievements. A hero is someone who has incredible strength and always has something to say or bring to the table. Not everyone is a hero, but everyone can be a hero. Everyday there are people all over the world that help out other people even if they’re not famous. Think about the police officers that are out saving lives and putting away the harmful people that hurt innocent people, and the firefighters putting out fires and rescuing the people, or even a bus driver who drives the kids to school if your parents’ have a business meeting they can’t be late for, that is a hero in your parents eyes.
Heroes are everyday people walking amongst us who have integrity, belief in themselves, and the goal to make the world a better place. Heroes are people we admire. They are people who we believe are the good in the world. There are many different types of heroes, represented in many different ways.
Ricky Martin once said, “Heroes represent the best of ourselves, respecting that we are human beings. A hero can be anyone from Gandhi to your classroom teacher, anyone who can show courage when faced with a problem. A hero is someone who is willing to help others in his or her best capacity”. Being a hero is not taking out the garbage or giving your friend some money. But it is putting yourself in front of others. I do not mean budge someone in the lunch line or getting your super bowl tickets first but, do something so than the other person does not have to.
You also don’t have to kill anyone, conquer foreign land, or risk your life to be a hero. Anyone who influences anyone else by saving or helping save his or her lives is a hero. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. changed the lives of millions of people by bringing justice to minorities. Mahatma Gandhi, one of the greatest heroes, led a nonviolent revolution to free his country.
