The Cinderella Man is a movie based on a true story that occurs during the period of the Great Depression in the 1930’s. The main character is James J. Braddock. Braddock was a famous Boxer in the 1920’s and a very wealthy man. Braddock then loses his money in the Stock Market Crash and Braddock and his family need to save every last dime in order to live. Braddock soon rises from the ashes and the second time fighting soon realizes why he is fighting again. When Braddock gets asked what he is fighting for in a press conference, his answer is clear to him but a mystery to everyone else. His answer was milk. As shown in the film Cinderella Man James and his wife need to add water to the milk they have in order to make it last longer. When Braddock begins fighting again he isn’t fighting for the fame or the respect of everyone else, Braddock is fighting to provide for his kids. Like so many others Braddock was fighting poverty and he did not have the money to buy milk weekly. So when Braddock responses with “milk” he reminds himself that he is not doing it for the lavish life like he did before, he's doing it so his family doesn’t need to live in a studio basement anymore and so that they can live a better life. …show more content…

In the film, Cinderella Man there are many flashbacks of Braddock's family throughout all Braddock's fights. From Braddock seeing his family gives him the strength in the fight to overcome his enemy, Max Baer. In the film Cinderella Man there were many scenes shown from how many people were affected by the Great Depression such as, how many families needed to come together for shared birthdays and funerals also.
