Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy about two star crossed lovers whose love cannot apart them from their two feuding families.In this essay I will state who are responsible for their deaths, the main theme of the story is hatred and fate.I agree that Romeo and Juliet actions are responsible for their own deaths because they were the ones who chose to commit suicide. They had a choice to commit suicide or not.. Yes they wouldn't have to go through all this trouble if the Capulet and the Montague didn't have a feud but if the two didn't have a feud, they probably wouldn't have met. Juliet should have waited for Romeo to come get her instead of pretending to kill herself. Romeo also should have waited a while longer because right when he killed himself, she woke up. I believe that Romeo and Juliet believed that they were so destined to be together to the point where they couldn't see logically. They were so hung up on each other to the point where they believed that they were meant to be together even though they met a couple days ago. In the story, Romeo says, "O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright! It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night As a rich jewel in an Ethiop's ear --Beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear!" The Deaths of Romeo and Juliet Was it just one person’s fault, or a mixture? In this essay, I will include many different reasons as to why Romeo and Juliet die. The friends and family of the two teenagers are to blame for the devastating tragedy. Tybalt (Juliet’s cousin) plays an important role in the text as his aggressive and defensive behaviour contributed to the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Capulet (Juliet’s father) is also to blame as he was very selfish and wasn’t supportive of Romeo and Juliet. Lastly, Friar Lawrence played the biggest role in the deaths of Romeo and Juliet as he was sympathetic and impatient with the two of them.

Responsibility for Romeo and Juliet's Deaths There is much controversy to who is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, a number of things and people could be held responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. But who is responsible for their deaths? Even before the play begins the grudge between the Capulet and Montague families has begun. Because of this, it becomes imminent that one thing or event will start off a sequence of incidents that will end in tragedy. The on-going feud between the Montague and Capulet families could be held responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, because if their was no feud between these families then Romeo and Juliet would have been able to have a safe normal relationship in which their family would have agreed to.

The Prince says some harsh words at the beginning of the play, condemning those who “disturbed the quiet of our streets again, / Your lives shall pay the forfeit of the piece.”(I, I) Informing the two families to live side by side in harmony or as close to it as possible. While men die on both sides, love is born “from forth the fatal loins of these two foes.”(Prologue) The love between Romeo and Juliet spells doom as the family members from both sides will never accept this, and will try end it with all their might to stop this unnatural occurrence from happening were they to ever know of it. The Feud not only causes problems between the two families but it also cases unrest and violence to run through the streets of Verona.

After reading the play ‘Romeo and Juliet’ I have decided that the fatal flaws of Romeo, Juliet and Mercutio are partly responsible for their own deaths. Even though they did not intentionally cause their death, they did intentionally cause the factors which led to their deaths for example opposing their parents’ decision, marrying each other, getting into fights, and loving each other too much. But I do not think that they are greatly responsible when their families are more responsible. The families Capulet and Montague had the biggest impact on the lives and deaths of Romeo, Juliet and Mercutio. If these two families did not hate each other and kill their children with their love for one another, the outcome of the play would be different and William Shakespeare's tragedy of Romeo and Juliet would not be the great story that it is today.
