This movie was written by Vince Gilligan, a film writer, in an effort to create a colored superhero with the ultimate goal of gaining more money and consumers. Based on the main character Hancock, the target audience seems to be black communities. This profile of person would likely care about having more black people with more big acting opportunities. John Hancock is an alcoholic man with superhero powers, including flight, invulnerability, and super-strength. Though he uses his powers to stop criminals in his current residence of Los Angeles, his activity in return causes millions of dollars in property damage due to his constant intoxication. As a result, he is routinely jeered at the crime scenes. He becomes the superhero of Los Angeles but towards the ends figures out he is paired with Mary, an alien just like him. Through the final minutes, they find out that they lose their powers when together, so at the blink of death, Hancock's retreats from earth to save his other half. …show more content…

Since this is a film and is directly showing you what is happening, the explicit messages is pretty much the plot. The implicit messages shows that no superhero is perfect and that they hold their cruel flaws that may lead to their downfalls. But in Hancock's case his flaws so happens to be greatly related to the stereotypes placed on black people. Unkempt uncivilized savages. Throughout the movie, he is shown to carry these specific traits which, and just is shown to be improper and reckless in society, poor, and dangerous. This movie implicitly says that just like Hancock, African American men are the ones in prison; in broken homes; alcoholics; promiscuous; non-trusting people and relationships, and the list goes on and
