Photography has a long history since its inception in early 1839. It has been transformed by the ingenuity of persons like George Eastman, who founded Kodak in the late 19th century. Reinvention in photography has seen many changes in this dynamic industry over the course of time, as old ideas have been replaced by new approaches and thus realization of change. This paper will discuss the future of photography, twenty-five years from now, by addressing innovation, imagination, and creativity as factors that will shape the photography industry.
Innovation is of great importance when it comes to photography. Bamberg (2012) believes it is through imagination that incredible and technical ideas can materialize into amazing products. As such, key players in this industry must invest heavily in research and development projects that seek to improve photography. Research and development can enhance the use of new technology such as increased pixel density, improved high ISO performance and auto improved focus as well as sharper lenses. It arouses the brains powers to think beyond what it can imagine (Story, 2008). An idea of such magnitude is not easy to take in; however, nothing is impossible as evidenced in the contemporary technological advances. Now, companies are launching amazing products, but twenty-five years down the line, their masterpiece works could be obsolete. Therefore, to remain relevant, companies will have to visualize fully their future needs, as things will change with time. For instance, futuristic cameras might need to have applications that respond to voice commands.
