“I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way…” are lyrics from Whitney Houston’s hit song Greatest Love of All. Both lyrics and song title are a part of what I believe. My philosophy of education is rooted in the belief that Education is to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to become productive, confident citizens. As a teacher, I am expected to nurture children’s minds, teaching them according to curriculum standards as well as everyday life needs. I believe education to be wholeness. A child’s mind, body and spirit must operate as one with wisdom, balance, and harmony as a driving force. The success of a student is the goal of teaching. An important part of establishing that success is providing students knowledge, with an emphasis on inductive thinking and problem solving, a positive learning environment, and the ability to become part of a democratic system becoming good citizens. …show more content…

I also believe that everything a child learns in school should be tied into real life so they can see first hand the practicality of learning. Developing their reasoning and allowing them to “lead the way”, solving their problems and learning to lead their own lives are important to fitting into life outside the classroom.
