iExperience: Technologies change our life

Introduction
In this field trip, I am trying to find out the latest development of Information Technology and how these technologies affect our daily lives. Get to know about these technologies, how is it going to improve our lives in the further. This exhibition is about the next generation nationwide broadband network (Next Gen NBN). We get to learnt how Next Gen NBN improved Information Technology, as it offers broadband speeds of up to 1 Gigabit per second. With such high speed, more informations can be transferred in one second. This exhibition tell us about how Next Gen NBN improve our lives, work, Interaction and learning. In this essay I am going to discuss three technologies which I think has the most impact on us. They are Cloud Computing, Near Field Communication (NFC) and Telehealth.

What is Telehealth?
According to the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) defines telehealth as the use of electronic information and telecommunications technologies to support long-distance clinical health care, patient and professional health-related education, public health and health administration. Technologies include videoconferencing, the internet, store-and-forward imaging, streaming media, and terrestrial and wireless communications (link 1). Put it in simple words, telehealth allows health monitoring from home.

Telehealth services are delivered in three main ways: Video conferencing, Remote patient monitoring and Store & forward technologies. ...to learn how to use the program and devices. Especially for elderly, it may take longer time for them to learn as they may not know how to use computer. Telehealth helps to save money only in a long run but not for short term. The devices are expensive, it is not worth it if you are going to use it for a short period of time. Telehealth may cause the doctor to have inappropriate diagnoses, as Telehealth only allows doctors to visually looking at the patient.
Why Telehealth is necessary for Singapore?
As we all know that, Singapore is facing an issue of aging population. By 2030, 30 percent of Singapore’s citizens will be part of the aging population. Elderly folks are less mobile, they cannot make regular visits to the polyclinics to receive health care services. With the help of Telehealth, they are able to receive health care services without leaving the house.
