The American War of Independence was the war between Great Britain and the 13 Colonies of New America. The war lasted from April 19, 1775 to September 3, 1783. The tension between the two countries grew over time leading to the American revolution. Later in the war france joined the side of the colonists in 1778, making the war into an InterNational war. Before The American Revolution had even started, The British government taxed the colonies; infuriating many citizens in the colonies. These acts were passed because the British Government were in debt from The Seven Years War. Many colonists later demanded for the same rights as the other british subjects, and In the year 1770, the resistance from the colonists led to a violent event called The Boston Massacre. What made this event so memorable was that because of the violents from the colonists, the british soldiers opened fired and killed five men. …show more content…

Because of that event; The Parliament quickly tried to gain back the control, by passing a series of measures like “ The Intolerables Act and The Coercive Act in 1774.” Right after; The First Continental Congress met and declared rights to citizens, including life, liberty, property,assembly and trial by jury. They agreed to met again, but was too late because violence had already broken out between The militiamen and the British Army.
