What is the meaning of life? Through previous years of study this question was presented to myself at the beginning of a semester; the final assignment, to find the answer. To find my reason, I looked at what gave me purpose. Although a flood of ideas came to mind, I finally reached a conclusion; my meaning in life is to help. More than anything it brings me great joy to help anything or anyone in any way I can. I strive to better myself in ways enables me accomplish this meaning and reach my goals. Attending Westfield State University to obtain the knowledge that comes with a Masters degree in Social Work is one more step I hope to achieve to better myself and further help me reach my meaning. I plan to use that knowledge to gain my LCSW, that I might be more accessible to those in need of help. …show more content…

This has lead me to take an interest in many causes, such as policy, human rights, and animal rights. I am a vegetarian and research ways I may help promote or take action with causes such as health and human rights for American citizens as wells as the struggles and possible solutions of diverse populations inside and out outside the United States. I grew up with friends and family who could have greatly benefited from the help of a social worker. In a very limited sense, before I knew about the helping fields I tried to take on this role for those I cared about. In my senior year of high school, I learned about the field of social work and instantly was filled with joy to know I could turn a personal passion into a career and extend my reach to help those who need it.
