According to an article, Labor Union today, has stated that “Employers are trying to shed responsibility for providing health insurance, good pension coverage, reasonable work hours and job safety protections” Holidays, extra medical insurance, disability and life insurance and a retirement income are all areas where unions have negotiated enhanced provisions. Unions provide workers with greater job security and thus economic security for themselves, their families and their communities. However, in reality unions engage in a much broader role in society.
