Almost every day we deal with different types of decision making and as if we are in management position, the decision making can be very effective. We need to think critically and take out any stains so it doesn't affect our achievements. When we consider of any dilemma, our thinking methods are filled with the prejudices and these prejudices occurs because our opinion and presumptions influence our thoughts. The term scapegoat mean treat innocent with bad behavior in order to make a lot of people happy.The traditional "well-earned reputation" theory explains prejudice entirely from stimulus characteristics of the groups, but is wrong in assuming that reputations are always accurate or well-deserved. The scapegoat theory of prejudice pays attention only to motivation of the majority group. Frustration generates hostility, which is displaced to a defenseless minority group and rationalized by blaming the minority for misfortunes, by projecting bad traits on them, and by stereotyping all members of the minority. The theory fails to explain why certain minorities are chosen for prejudice while others are admired, and why minorities are also prejudiced.
Two Ways to Reduce Prejudice Two ways in which prejudice can be reduced are Equal status contact and the pursuit of common goals. Deutsch and Collins (1951) carried out an early study of equal status contact. They compared two kinds of housing projects, one of which was thoroughly integrated with blacks and whites who were assigned houses regardless of their race, and the other was segregated. The residents of both housing projects were intensively interviewed and it was found that both casual and neighbourly contact were greater in the integrated housing with less prejudice among whites towards blacks.

Critical thinking is a skill that all humans possess, however, it is more prevalent in some than others because people learn over time how to hone their critical thinking skills over time. When someone thinks critically they must evaluate and analyze in order to form an opinion; as learned in this week’s lessons, “[c]ritical thinking is a learned skill” (Ellis, 2013). Throughout this module we have learned critical thinking has taught people to overcome preposterous ideas and allowed civilization to find truth and turn from deception. Rationality and good judgement are typically affected by certain ways of thinking which are often studied within the psychological community. Within the community, these different ways of effected thinking are called cognitive biases. Breaking down the overall umbrella of the term cognitive bias yields subcategories of decision-making, social and memory biases, among others. Biases such as these affect all humans in one way or another. My personal experience with cognitive biases include confirmation bias, authority bias and egocentric bias. The nine steps of the decision making process are: identifying the problem, defining criteria, setting goals and objectives, evaluating the effect of the problem, identifying the causes of the problem, framing alternatives, evaluating impacts of the alternatives, making the decision, implementing the decision, and measuring the impacts. (Decision, 2007.) By using various methods and tools to assist in making important business decisions an individual can ensure the decisions they make will be as successful as possible. Life is full of decisions. Some decisions are trivial. Should I choose paper or plastic at the grocery store? Which of the 31 flavors of ice cream should I pick? Other decisions are vital. Should I get married to her or should I take this new job? Your decisions may affect many people or only yourself. In this paper I will present a decision-making model. I will describe a decision that I made at work using this model and how critical thinking impacted that decision.

In his essay Critical Thinking: What Is It Good For? (In Fact, What Is It), Howard Gabennesch explains the importance of critical thinking by drawing attention to how its absence is responsible for societies many ills including, but not limited to, the calamity in Vietnam. Yet, at the end of his essay, Gabennesch also mentions that, despite “the societal benefits of critical thinking, at the individual level, uncritical thinking offers social and psychological rewards of its own.”(14). Similarly, it is these rewards that, like the bait on a fishhook, often make individuals hesitant to engage in critical thinking despite the resulting harm to both them and society.
