Introduction The purpose of this review is to connect the HeForShe movement to the concepts of primary socialization, secondary socialization, and how the internet influences the individuals. The following literature will establish how these concepts will have a hand in the effort to answer how primary socialization and secondary socialization play a part in gender roles at a young age. It will also be established how primary and secondary socialization establish cultural schemas that relate to the inequality of gender in society and how the internet has begun to establish itself as a form of socialization that will impact the lives of children and their opinion on gender equality.

The movement was comprised by the UN Women and is head by three women. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka. who is the visionary leader of UN Women. Emma Watson, the Global Goodwill Ambassador of UN Women and the face of the movement. And Elizabeth Nyamayaro, who is the head of HeForShe. During the launch of the movement, Emma Watson gave the speech to announce the intentions of HeForShe to the world. “This is the first campaign of its kind at the UN: we want to try to galvanize as many men and boys as possible to be advocates for gender equality. With that said, it is important to look at how celebrities affect the movements they endorse. Emma Watson has a huge following with her role in the Harry Potter series among other projects she has taken on since, which include the new rendition of Beauty and the Beast (2017). In other words, people know who she is. With her involvement with the UN Women and her dedication to humanitarian efforts, she was the perfect candidate to promote HeForShe.
