What is nature? I was taught that nature is the wilderness, the nature preserves, the national parks, and any land untouched by man. However, humans have traveled across the globe and thrived in most continents. There is no doubt that humans have touched every part of the natural world, so is there any nature left? Under the current definition of nature, the answer is no which means that there is no such thing as nature. That is why we need to change the definition of nature.

Nature, under the definition of the Oxford dictionary, is “The phenomena of the physical world collectively, including plants, animals, the landscape, and other features and products of the earth, as opposed to humans or human creations.” We are not included in the definition, …show more content…

Most people would assume that one or two pieces of trash would not harm the environment, but that thought process is harmful. One or two pieces of trash eventually create a mountain. Not only is litter unattractive to look at, nature in the city is harmed. An EcoMENA article mentions how litter taints animals and harms natural areas. Although teenagers are not the main cause of littering, they still contribute a portion of the waste and future waste if we do not teach them to cherish nature. Eventually, nature will no longer exist for future generations and the benefits we receive from nature will wither away. If teenagers can learn to love nature now, there will be an increase of people who will help protect nature in the future. There will be an increase of activists, volunteers, politicians, scientists, and businessmen who will fight for and protect nature within the city.
