I really started to have ‘motherly’ traits in January 2000, when my little sister Clarissa, was born. My mother tells the two of stories oh how I would tuck her in, tell her stories, and bring her baby toys when she would cry. Yes, most little kid’s love to help their parent’s after a little sibling comes along but I never ‘grew out’ of wanting to help with kids.
Because my parents had me at such a young age I was one of the first child in the family and the first kid in their group of friends. Not only am I the oldest child, I am also the oldest cousin on both my mother and fathers side. I was around eleven before my aunts and uncles started to have kids of their own. I would always get so excited to go visit my little cousins, and would ‘hog’ whatever baby or toddler was around. It worked out for the adults in my family because I was always the
After taking a few babysitting classes at the YMCA and Red Cross first aid and CPR classes; I decided to make a profile on Care.com. Originally I was messaging all the families in need of childcare in my area, but before I knew it I was receiving messages from people noticing me on the website. I was babysitting at least four times a week during the summer, and I was able to keep sitting a few times a month during the school year.
During high school I was really able to expand my knowledge about childcare. All the electives I could take involved childcare including: child development, early childhood education, nutrition, and elementary education. Each class I learned something new about children. During my child development class I learned about the important stages of physical, cognitive, social development in children. In early childhood education and elementary education I took my knowledge into a classroom. I spent every other week during the school year as an aide in both a preschool and elementary

Over time, the debate of childcare issue within the Canadian public policy context has been raging. Rise in the media attention of the social issue of childcare policy in Canada concentrates on the relationship and coordination among the federal, provincial, and territorial governments in addressing the social issue (Finkel, 20013). According to Lewis Steven of The Star Canada News Agency, childcare is one of the priorities the Canadian Federal Government need to consider when designing its social policies. According to Lewis (2013), the Canadian Federal Government needs to consider the safety net income as an important factor contributing to affordable childcare services in the country. In Canada, parents or members of extended family have the responsibility of providing childcare services without the consideration of family net income. However, outside the family, there are many childcare providers operating as private individuals or agencies. Such childcare providers operate as private businesses.
Throughout my life my mom has always been selfless and generous- especially when it came to her children and grandchildren… ever putting her self last! SHE WAS MY EVERYTHING… Unlike my sister, I was the one that gave my parents their grey hair… It took me longer than most to mature, and the truth is- that’s putting it mildly. Yet through all the ups and downs, and all the times I would end up disappointing her expectations of me, one thing NEVER
A substantial amount of research considers how children develop and form attachments from a few months old, as this period can have huge implications later in their life. Children’s experience of attachment will provide them with a schema about how attachments form so it’s critical they have a positive childhood and form close bonds, especially with a primary caregiver. This essay will attempt to assess the impact early daycare has on children’s ability to form attachments and to what extent it affects a child’s development.
Since I was little, I have always had a love for children and have always been super excited to do with anything involving infants. I am the oldest child of 6 and have always been the big sister, always around little ones. When my siblings were little I would always want to hold them and help my parents take care of them. The one conversation I would always have with my mom was I was going to have so many kids, I’m pretty sure at one point

Teaching young children is becoming more complex and the demands placed on educators are increasing. By taking part in continuing education, and integrating current research and practices, educators and administrators will be better able to promote innovation and improvement in both managing, and teaching. Since early childcare educators are keenly aware of the needs of children and are able to see trends in early the child care and development system and their impact on children and families, they have a responsibility to engage in informed advocacy for children (Mevawalla & Hadley, 2012). By getting involved in the public policy-making process, they can help educate the public and build support for early childhood issues that will help improve the lives of children and families. Early childhood professionals have many important roles and responsibilities. “Teaching young children is serious work that requires high-quality, dedicated, professional teachers who see the importance of what they do and are eager to increase their effectiveness, knowledge, and skills” (Phajane, 2014, p.
Children’s development in all aspects are influenced by genetic composition (Nature) and the environment in which they grow (Nurture). They are influenced by all adults in which they come into significant contact. However, parents and immediate family have the most impact on a child’s development. A family is defined as at least one adult and one child who live together and in which the adult is control of the child’s life and behavior as well as demonstrates responsible care for the child (McDevitt & Ormand, 2013).
