What I Learned From The Jv Theatre Class

During the Ensemble Unit in our JV Theatre class, everyone learned how to become a better team member. Through exercises such as the qualifier game, ball game, and tic-tac-toe, we learned to work together and play however would best benefit the whole team. These lessons will help us become better actors because we have learned to trust each other, but also to be someone that the whole class can rely on when in need. We will work together and for each other until we succeed. In the beginning of the Ensemble Unit, our class was only a team in that we shared the same goal, which was to complete whatever exercise we were given. Straightaway the class split into two groups: the leaders and the (silent) followers. To demonstrate my point, I walked into the first day of JV Theatre convinced that I would end up being a great leader in the class. Now, I am incredibly far from that, and I believe I’m in a better role than I ever imagined. During the qualifiers exercise and tic-tac-toe game I started to truly discover my place in the team. Instead of instructing my friends what to do, I searched for ways to win. I came up with strategies during the qualifiers game that would limit our chances of being given a strike. I contributed ideas and logic, rather than just bossing everyone around. Likewise, during tic-tac-toe I would be prepared to play strategically and fast. I thought quickly and played accordingly. Now the unit is over and I believe I’ve found my place in the team: I’m the brain-stormer. I feel like I’m truly giving my best and participating the most I can when I give suggestions for strategies or tactics. I’m glad I found a place where I can contribute to the class the best of my
