Poverty is something that has always been around and it will never go away. Some people believe that poverty is something that you are born into and cannot rise above but I strongly disagree. Being poor is sometimes a choice and can be changed at any moment but some people choose to accept it. Many people adopt being poor for many reasons such as lack of support, self-doubt, afraid of judgement, economy, values, and education. These are just a few reasons why a large quantity of society is on or below the poverty line. If you go back in time poverty distinguished itself with different class ranking. Even though this has been abolished years ago some of same type of mind sets still present themselves. This mind set is acceptance. Some people who are poor feel it is okay because that is how they were raised and they feel that their children will be the same. The values we put in our youth will shape our future and determine whether they will evolve or not. A child whose parents went on to a higher level of education is more likely to follow in his parents foot-steps because that is what they have been exposed to. Being exposed will allow your adolescents imagination to run freely and think about what they could be. Lack of support could play a part in being in poverty but ultimately you must make the choice on your own; if you wish to continue being in the financial situation you are in. While the government does play a part in your future you must decide whether you will allow that to hold you back. The government does show enough support to our inner city communities.
