A criminal investigation is a discipline, an applied science, conducted by law enforcement for the purpose of gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses and persons of interest; ergo, to discover, collect, and safeguard admissible evidence until the case is ready for prosecution or closed. Being as investigators are evaluated on the basis of the reports they produce, it is safe to say that writing ability is a very important part of a criminal investigation. Evidence collected must be admissible, so the prosecution can prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt. Without criminal investigations a victim’s perpetrator could not be brought to justice that could result in an increase of crime; since when boundaries and accountability are eliminated, many humans will choose the course of least resistance due to their inherent sinful nature.
In Exodus 21 a reoccurring theme is restitution. If a person is harmed, stolen from, the victim receives restitution from the perpetrator. Exodus 20 says that the sanction for murder is death; however, death has two elements, intentional and unjust. Deliberate homicide sanctioned death; whereas, accidental manslaughter resulted in the perpetrator fleeing to a city of refuge (Numbers 35).
