Totalitarian society has been observed in the near past and again it has become the center of focus in both of these scripts. The protagonist V from the film V for vendetta and Winston from 1984 by George Orwell experience extreme pain from their government which results in them rebelling against their rulers. Both the Characters V and Winston emerge as antiheroes having the same motive and ideas but different paths to achieve their goal. V chooses the path of aggression and violence whereas Winston rebels in a much more civilized manner. At the end the path they choose determines the faith of their lives and their struggle to freedom.

V choosing the path of aggression and violence receives death, but still succeeds in his intentions. Winston on the other hand tries to revolt passively but as a result of that he meets death without achieving anything first. V makes plans to unite all the people of London against the government. He then risks his own life to destroy and bring the government down. This move by V results in his death by injuries but before he dies he makes sure that the dictator of England, Adam Sutler, was killed. Winston chooses to revolt in a passive manner; he secretly held a grudge but really did not take actions upon it. Instead, he wrote,” DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER” (Orwell 20) in his personal diary to let his emotions loose. He expressed all his actions in his diary, he writes, “they’ll shoot me I don’t care they’ll shoot me in the back of the neck I don’t care down with big brother” (Orwell 21). Throughout the novel, Winston never takes any harsh action that were extremely illegal, by thinking against the party and expressing his fleeing’s, he was committing thought crime. In the quote he expresses that he is not afraid of dying and would carry on his revolt, which was writing his emotions down. Later on he gets involved in other crimes but those were completely for his own pleasure. Therefore, Winston never took any action to take revenge from the party and as a result of his crime he was completely
