“Chin up kid, they’d kill to see you fall.” A quote from Drake himself, who still today continues to amaze his fans, but an entire generation of teenage culture. In fact Aubrey Graham’s achievements range from his acting, singing, and songwriting talents. Best known for his release of his first album “Room for Improvement” in 2006 was a breakthrough which continued to astound listeners (Biography.com). According to NBC.com, Drake's’ first album even got the attention of rapper Lil Wayne also known as Dwayne Micheal Carter Jr., who was so astounded had to meet with him. Then as Lil Wayne, met with the upcoming rapper, he signed him to his label “Cash Money Records” and “Young Money Entertainment.” Drake was like a rocket says a host from MTV.com, …show more content…
Well, he shows you do not have to be the smartest person to be successful and that never to give up on what you’re after. For example, he puts parts of his personal life into his music to show that just because he has fame and fortune that doesn’t mean he’s like any other human being. He sings and raps about love, passion, and loss. For one in his song “Hotline Bling” from his album “Views,” shows a loss of a friend, or maybe a lover and how things change and one you stop trying to make the relationship work, but turns out into just being “you used to.” With all the fame and fortune now, Drake now owns his own record label titled October’s Very Own(OVO). According to Theculturetrip.com It was started back in 2012 when he wanted to craft a definitive Toronto sound. Under the direction of Warner Brothers Production, October’s Very Own is set for world domination, encompassing all types of music. Drake was just a kid who didn't stop going after what he was after, says his mother in an interview with MTV. A family member of mine that I had asked about “what is it that you pay attention more in drake's music?” And her reply was “his lyrics on how he would treat a woman so she wouldn't be lonely or hurt by the things he does and just because you lost someone you loved doesn't mean to stop chasing your
Soon after doing this he began looking for a record deal as a solo artist. But Shawn just wasn’t getting lucky. It wasn't until a friend, Roc-A-Fella CEO Damon Dash, convinced him to form a record company with him that Jay-Z's career finally got off the ground. Jay-Z released his first single through Roc-A-Fella in 1995, "In My Lifetime." It was a hit in New York, and helped Dash secure a distribution deal for Jay-Z’s first album, “Reasonable Doubt.”

Raised as an only child, Dwayne Micheal Carter Jr or more commonly referred to as Lil Wayne, was born September 27th, 1982, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Carter’s mother was only 19 years old when he was first born. He was being raised by both his mother and father until his father abandoned them while Dwayne Jr. was only two years old. After being abandoned by his biological father, his mother was forced to take care of him on her own and survive in the crime infested community of Holly grove, New Orleans. Even though he divorced his mother and remarried, his father forced the two live with his own mother and came by to abuse Lil Wayne’s mother on a consistent basis. This situation went on for three years until Lil Wayne’s mother eventually remarried and relocated to a different part of town. Growing up he did very well in school. He was actually enrolled in his school’s gifted program at a point and received top grades. He got into music at a very young age and wrote his first rap song at the age of eight. Lil Wayne had the drive to be the best and successful at his craft since he first began. At the age of nine he was challenging others twice his age and older at rapping. He would consistently go to neighborhood parties or events to rap and most of the time he was better then whatever adult he was going against. As a testament to this, at the age of nine he start receiving attention from one of the two co-founders of his future label, Slim Williams. From Slim, he then received other co-founder, Bryan Williams, phone number and what he did with it after that was truly caught the Bryan’s attention. He continuously called the number over and over leaving rap songs on the voicemail of Williams until he agreed to meet him in person...
This shows that this is him and who he really is. People following his beliefs because he treated people equally and judged people equally. This is a big difference from him and other hip-hop artists.
Drake, some people may call him the legend of rap music. Drake released his first album in 2006, and he has been dropping songs ever since. Drake released his hit “God’s Plan” earlier this year, and it blew up. What he decided to do after the release was simply amazing. Drake is an influential role model of generosity and charity through his actions of donating to schools funds, donating to Women in poverty, and funding for school programs.
On his own, he reworked George Clinton's elastic funk into the self-styled G-Funk, a slow-rolling variation that relied more on sound than content. When he left N.W.A. In 1992, he founded Death Row Records with Suge Knight, and the label quickly became the dominant force in mid-'90s hip-hop thanks to his debut, The Chronic. Soon, most rap records imitated its sound, and his productions for Snoop Doggy Dogg, Warren G and Blackstreet were massive hits. For nearly four years, G-funk dominated hip-hop, and Dre had enough sense to abandon it and Death Row just before the whole empire collapsed in late 1996. Dre retaliated by forming a new company, Aftermath, and while it was initially slow getting started, his bold moves forward earned critical respect.
I have listened and looked at many of his quotes and cannot seem to gather what type of person he really is. He says things like “become good at cheating and you will never need to become good at anything else” and then turns around and says things like “I mean, they say you die twice. One time when you stop breathing and a second time, a bit later on, when somebody says your name for the last time.” These both just make me think different things about him like with the first quote, he is that guy that is like cheat your way through live you will make it, life is a joke. Just do what you have to so that you can get on with your day. That quote does not really give me room to look up to him so to speak. With the second quote I feel like he has a heart and that he just wants to be famous and known. He wants his name to carry on and wants to feel loved. I feel like that is most desired in
He may just seem like another rapper to you but if you actually listen to his lyrics you can see he’s not like any rapper out there. His name is Kanye West and he was born in Chicago Illinois. He grew up in the “ghetto” and learned to appreciate life. He didn’t learn to really, truly appreciate life until October of 2002. Driving back to his hotel late one night after a recording session, the new-coming rap/hip-hop artist was involved in a devastating, near fatal car accident. The crash left him with a broken jaw in three places and an appreciation for life. Just weeks after being released from the hospital he recorded his first major hit, “Through the Wire,” with his mouth still wired shut. He records every song like its going to be his last song and that makes every song better than the last. He’s not only a rap artist but also a producer. He has been responsible for being behind songs like Jay-Z’s Izzo, Girls, Girls, Girls, The Takeover, and 03 Bonnie and Clyde.
Have you ever acted different or lied trying to impress other people? Drake writes about how to be yourself in “Know Yourself.” Drake’s music is a blend of hip-hop and R and . Be true to yourself , don’t change for other people. Drake often speaks about times like this in a lot of his music.

To say it lightly, Stanley Crouch does not like the hip-hop genre of music. The dreadlocks, the clothing style, and the "vulgar": gold chains are just a few things he does not approve of at all. (Crouch, 1 ) It astounds him to see how far African-American music has fallen since the days of the Motown. Stanley was quoted as saying this about rap, "It is rudeness, vulgarity, and pornography disguised as ‘keeping it real.'" (Crouch, 1) He also went on to say the hip-hop music genre has the worst impact of all music genres on our culture today. (Crouch, 2) Crouch believes one does not need much talent to become a successful rapper unlike the jazz greats he listens to all the time.
The contract that started it all was with Def Jam Records, which accompanied her rising for a considerable period of time. Rihanna describes herself being at the studio fronting Jay-Z, the rap king. Jay-Z was living his golden age when he met Rihanna, and more importantly, heard Rihanna. He was at once convinced, blown away by the young prodigy’s talent. Rihanna later shared her experience at the first audition with Jay-Z.
Migos responded back that Drake knew them just as well as their songs and work, Stating that Drake was also one of the biggest (artists) out. Drake does not regret remixing any of their work with his lines to spice it up alittle more. Drake knew he would do good at helping them out because he knew he could help Migos acheive at getting the gold certificate in the U.S., only because he has won 163 prizes in his entire career, From that point on he knew he would be doing other artists some good by doing remixes with them or joining their songs. Knowing that he was a big fan of the Migos he knew right then that he could most diffently do Migos some good because he was their biggest
Artists such as Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G told stories through their music. Tupac, who is believed to be the greatest rapper ever by many, often wrote about social issues such as racism and inner city violence. He told stories through his music that had a positive impact on people, or at least attempted to. Kanye West, Eminem, J Cole, and Kendrick Lamar are some of the few artists left who have made influential music in today’s time. In 2004, Kanye West released his debut album “The College Dropout” in which he says “All that’s saying is make your own decisions. Don’t let society tell you, ‘This is what you have to do.” These are the type of messages that have peaked my interest in Hip-Hop. The motivation that Kanye gives through his songs and the confidence that he displays and encourages is something that helps people to do what they want to do and follow their dreams. J cole’s newest album “KOD” which is an acronym meaning “kids on drugs” and “kill our demons”, summarizes a lot of the problems that current rappers have created and the things that he wants to change. The main problem that Cole tries to tackle is substance abuse and his battles with it as well as encouraging people to “chose wisely” when thinking about doing drugs. The phrase “choose wisely” is used with emphasis several times throughout the album. In J coles song “Friends”, he describes that many
The lyrics to Eminem’s songs are often more than just the next catchy tune, they often tell a story. Most of the time this story is dark and scary, giving insight of the struggles going on in such a peculiar man’s life. For example, in his song “The Way I Am” he sings, “I'm some wigger who just tries to be black because I talk with an accent and grab on my balls, so they always keep asking the same f***ing questions.” It is very noticeable that this is more than just a happy, feel good song. The lyrics are meaningful and speak to people who have gone through similar struggles. Eminem’s lyrics also contain many drug references showing why he is such a loose cannon. In his song “Purple Pills” he sings, “I take a couple uppers. I down a couple downers, but nothing compares to these blue and yellow purple pills. I been to mushroom mountain. Once or twice, but who's countin'. But nothing compares to these blue and yellow purple pills.” This shows that not only does he do drugs, but he has a preference and has done them on multiple occasions.
