The sport of surfing has had to face the cold waters of places below the equator, as well as places in the northern hemisphere. This caused people to start to experiment with the idea of a wetsuit. When the wetsuit was first invented it allowed people to surf in places and at times that nobody thought possible, for as long as they wished. Once the wetsuit had become part of popular culture it was then in a position to be improved upon. Throughout time wet suits have been sealed and improved in many ways. Now the wet suit has had an element added to it. This new element allows people to surf in freezing conditions for lengthy amounts of time. It has also allowed people that live in cold areas to take up the sport of surfing. This has allowed the surfing community and culture to branch right around to the globe even into freezing cold places. The H-bomb Has also taken surfing away from the summer culture only. For many years many people socialised and bonded over surfing during summer at a beach. However, with the invention of the H- bomb, the water temperature and weather is irrelevant to surfing. This in turn makes surfing a much more individual, non social event. People will go surfing where the waves are good, away from fellow surfers and friends. This will take away from the culture of surfing and hanging out with your mates on a hot summer’s day. The H-bomb could influence the culture that has been created over thousands of years. This could lead to a social divide in the surfing community. It will separate those that want to surf to have a good time with their friends from those who are more serious and are in it for themselves and this could cause a cultural divide which could lead to violence and …show more content…

In the sport of surfing it is very dependant on the weather and the temperature. The introduction of the H-bomb eliminates these hindrances to surfing. With these elements eliminated it will allow people to stay interested in the sport throughout the winter. However, this could also lead to a lot of people who only surf for the social aspect stopping surfing altogether. They might feel that other, more serious surfers had improved their skills and were better than them. So they would feel inadequate or not good enough to continue the sport. However, it would also allow people to keep up their skill level to the level they reach towards the end of summer while the water is still warm and the weather is nice.
