Maintaining good health is what keeps the body going. It may seem simple, but having a high level of wellness is much more complex than just eating right and working out. Consistently making benefitual decisions in all aspects of life is necessary for achieving optimal health. Health can be measures by the Illness-Wellness Continuum, a scale that ranges from pre-mature death to high-level wellness. By using the seven dimensions of health, I can safely assume I would fall just under vibrant health. My physical health has always been a significant part of my life. Years of dancing established in me a sense of responsibility for my body and its functions. Yoga, biking on the beach, and taking walks in the woods keeps me operating properly. My social health is a little lacking. My hectic schedule keeps me from seeing my friends often, but I’m at peace with that. I have strong relationships within my family, my boyfriend and his family, and the family I work with. Plus, I have the most affectionate little puppy in the world! Being blessed enough to nanny for the family I do has positively boosted my occupational health. They treat me as if I was there own child and always look out for my best interest. Having such astonishing support at my work place greatly benefits my environmental health. I also get the ability to take classes in a comfortable environment since they are online. For the future, I will continue to work on my psychological health. Although I come far from that depression young girl, small things such as long bridge, huge crowds, and small elevators can still bring me close to having a panic attack. I will also work on my social health by being more open to creating new friendships.
