Welding in Modern Times

Welding is a trade that requires complex skills and training. It has been used since the dawn of the Egyptians and has evolved over the years into the complex art of modern times.
Welding has been used to help create cities, machines, and tools that our society uses on a daily basis. Welding is the process of which two pieces of metal are permanently joined together and includes ornamental welding, practical welding, techniques, and welding machines (Welding Information Center).
Welding isn’t just a simple process with only one way to perform it, it has several different types and ways to perform this skill. Some ways that welding can be done are vertically, under water, overhead, and flat welding. The easiest way to weld anything is flat welding. It is easier to control the weld and to have it lay right on top of the joint. Welding vertically is a more difficult technique regardless of what type of welder being used. Welding up vertically is difficult because of the fact that the weld just wants to burn through the metal because of the heat that is being transferred. It is also very difficult to control the welding gun or electrode because it is not easy to get a nice solid weld on the joint when welding vertically. Another type of welding is overhead welding. Overhead welding is extremely difficult to perform and is the toughest. The weld wants to fall off the metal as a molten ball and it will injure or burn the welder severely. That’s why welding protection gear is needed and it would be a mistake or regret to not wear the gear. (Praxiar 1).
Welding is a great field to get into because it doesn’t have limitations for how the welding process g...

Another type of welding that isn’t very popular is stud welding. “Stud welding is a complete one-step fastening system, using a wide variety of fasteners called weld studs” (Stud Welding Equipment 1). Stud welding is a very easy process to use, it’s even easier than a MIG welder because all it takes is the pull of a trigger to release the weld stud. Stud welding is used in children’s toys, appliances, construction, offshore, and much more. Stud welding is a less expensive process than other fastening methods and can be used in locations which do not allow the use of other fasteners (Stud Welding Equipment 1).
