Wealth and Poverty in the World
In the world today there is a lot of poverty. There is a great divide
between the world’s rich and poor people. In the world today there
are also rich people but the number of poor peoples out number them.
There are many reasons as to why there is poverty in the world. Being
a poor person can mean that you do not have enough food to eat for
months, or even years and not just for a few hours or few days.
Poverty can also mean not having enough money to be able to pay for
lives necessities such as clothes, food, a place to live or even
medicine that you may need when you ill. However it can also mean
having just enough money to survive but not any extra money to do any
other things that you like.
There are many reasons for people being poor but often, particular
groups are poor as they are overlooked. Around the world, many people
such as old people, children, women and racial minorities have a very
small chance of having a say in any decisions that may affect them.
There are two different types of poverty in the world:
Absolute poverty:
This means that people don’t have the basic necessities to sustain
life. Five different things determine it:
1. A high level of malnutrition
2. A low level of education and literacy
3. A high level of illness and disease
4. A high rate of infant mortality
5. A low life expectancy
Relative poverty:
This means that people are poor compared to those living around them
in the same country.

had a welfare state for centuries. Also in the Shikshapatri written
by Lord Swaminarayan it says that everyone should give 10% of their
income or if they can't afford that 5% but everyone who earns money
should give to charity.
Also I think that there is nothing wrong with rich people in the world
because the people that are rich have become rich by working hard and
earning it, and therefore this should not be taken away from them.
This is one of the main reasons that I do not agree with quotation. I
mainly feel that there is nothing wrong with the rich in the world as
long as they help the poor. This point is also written in the
scriptures and holy books of many of the world’s religions, and that
is another reason that I feel this way.
When beginning the readings in the module about poverty, I was struck by a sense of shame. Jenson & Fraser (2011) have some pretty hard-hitting statistics and the graphs did a really good job illustrating the prevalence and trends in poverty; I really appreciated graph 2.1, which displays the racial and ethnic disparities that exist for children experiencing poverty, because it demonstrates how the national rate of childhood poverty can be deceptive (26-30).

Although this period brought technological advances and economic growth, it also was a period of disparity and poverty.
Poverty in Developing and Less Developed Countries The world includes less developed countries and developing countries. Less developed countries are countries considered to be poor and often contain many people who are in absolute poverty. Developing countries are countries like India, which are gaining in wealth. There are two types of poverty within the world.
Everyone knows what the word poverty means. It means poor, unable to buy the necessities to survive in today's world. We do not realize how easy it is for a person to fall into poverty: A lost job, a sudden illness, a death in the family or the endless cycle of being born into poverty and not knowing how to overcome it. There are so many children in poverty and a family's structure can effect the outcome. Most of the people who are at the poverty level need some type of help to overcome the obstacles. There are mane issues that deal with poverty and many things that can be done to stop it.
Everyone has his or her own ideas of how wealth should be distributed properly. Some people believe wealth should be left to family, left for public services, or become the property of others. Others believe that people should not have excess wealth, resulting in non-existent class distinctions. An alternative view is that wealth is not distributed; instead, the wealthy continue to grow wealthier while those in poverty can not escape it and fall further into a life of poverty. The beliefs discussed above come from three different writers. Those writers include Andrew Carnegie, Karl Marx, and Robert B. Reich. These writers all have different opinions on how wealth should be distributed properly.
According to Schwartz-Nobel, America will lose as much as 130 billion in future productive capacity for every year that 14.5 American children continue to live in poverty (Koppelman and Goodhart, 2007). Sadly the seriousness of poverty is still often clouded by myths and misunderstandings by society at large. This essay studies the issue of poverty and classism in today's society.

Being poor means to be disadvantaged in every single way. It means not being able to support yourself or your family or have the basic necessity to life. Without substantial help for these helpless people then we should be feeling guilty that we are living lives far better than what others are experiencing. Poverty may because by wars, disease or lack of education and infrastructure and the resulting consequences may be hunger, starvation, crime and ultimately death. If poverty is not eradicated then injustice will continue, increasing death tolls and lives.
Poverty is prevalent throughout the world around us. We watch television and see famous people begging us to sponsor a child for only ten dollars a month. We think in our own minds that ten dollars is only pocket change, but to those children and their families, that ten dollars is a large portion of their annual income. We see images of starving children in far away countries, and our hearts go out to them. But we really do not know the implications of poverty, why it exists, or even what we can do to help combat this giant problem in our world.
Has anyone ever considered thinking about what the world is really going through? How many people don’t have the necessities in order to survive? If so, what are these people going through? Poverty is the state of one who lacks a standard or socially acceptable amount of money or material possessions. Sometimes events occur that changes a person’s perspective on life. Poverty is one that can have a huge effect on not only one person, but also the people around him/her. Over half of the world is going through this tragedy and we, being the ones who created it, have the responsibility to end it.
