In education W.E.B. DuBois believed that an academic education was more important than a trade education. A trade education is an education that gives you the specific skills to perform the tasks of a particular job. He also believed that receiving industrial education would keep black people trapped in lower social and economic classes. Industrial education is an approach to learning from an industry perspective. DuBois wanted black people to succeed in liberal arts and science. Booker T Washington wanted black people to respect and value the need for industrial education . He was against the idea of education just teaching someone how to read and write. People with one degree are capable of doing a job that has nothing to do with that degree, People always major in one thing and pursue something different. And even with a liberal arts degree after graduating it's still a low chance that you will actually get the job that you majored to get and pursued to get in college. Liberal Arts schools also require students to take a wide variety of subjects as core requirement even though some of those courses aren't required for the specific major. They can also be a real pain and a bore for some students who have no particular interests or skills in certain subjects. So imagine you're a student who wants to be a scientist and you had to take 3 to 4 unnecessary classes, And finally the cost of liberal arts schools are horrendous. According to the College Board, the average cost of tuition and fees for the 2016–2017 school year was $33,480 at private colleges, $9,650 for state residents at public colleges, and $24,930 for out-of-state residents attending public universities. I say this because we are in a state right now where we don't really have the money on traditional colleges. We are in a state where we can't come to our own homes because of the harsh environments we live in. We need industrial education so we can build a nation we need this education so we can learn basic work and life skills like how to meet deadlines and how to work with co workers. We need this education because it gives us skills to help us thrive in an oppressive world.We need this education to build our own communities build our own houses, build our own schools, build our own shops. Imagine if we all put our 40 acres and a mule together and built a community. We had a all black community with everything we built it won't be hard we as a people came from the dirt and rose up to be something great just imagined if we built a community and a time processes we turn that small community into a little town, then to a city, then to a state then finally into a nation. Imagine a nation built by black people imagine the agriculture. Imagine the culture. There would be no discrimination, no racism, no classism because everyone in that community built it from the ground up.
