Julius Caesar the Hero
Was Julius Caesar a hero or a tyrant? To answer that, Caesar was a hero. In the article, “Killing Caesar” by Jon Herman the author states all the good things Caesar had done for the Roman citizens, such as, creating jobs so people could work, he kept fresh water throughout Rome, He also made sure they had food, and he made fun events for them to attend.
Many people viewed Julius Caesar as a hero for trying to improve Rome when he was the leader. One thing that Caesar has done to try and improve Rome was creating jobs for the Roman citizens so they can work and support their families, “Caesar created jobs by building roads, temples, and aqueducts.” If Caesar had not of created those jobs then there would be a lot of hungry and homeless families in Rome, which would have caused chaos and commotions. The jobs that were created by Caesar shows that he wanted what was best for Rome and its citizens, which supports people claims for calling him a hero. …show more content…

Once Caesar had become the leader of Rome he took away all of the senate’s power, “The senate had ruled Rome poorly, caring more about their own political squabbles than the people, and now Caesar had taken their power.” Taking away the senate’s power shows an act of heroism form Caesar because he noticed a major problem within Rome and he took it upon himself to fix it. If Caesar was to not take the power from the senate then Rome would have still been in bad condition, and the senate would still think that there was nothing wrong and everyone in Rome was fine. Also if the problem had not been fixed while Caesar was the leader the citizens of Rome would have seen him as a weak ruler causing Caesar to be disliked, and seen as a tyrant instead of a
