The Vikings’ battles and tactics were simple, yet well planned. With these battles came great leaders and modes of transportation. Which shaped the way the Vikings lived their daily lives. The constant fighting made the Viking communities strong, independent, and well prepared. Rollo was one of the many leaders in this significant time period.

Rollo was well known for following out raids against France under a treaty called, “St. Claire-sur-Epte” ( 6 Viking leaders ). Charles the king of the west gave Rollo some land, with this he expanded. The expansion of the land called Normandy provided more protection from other Vikings raids. He brought Christianity to Norway by invading it. He used his loot to invade it and then become king. He forced his subjects to convert to Christianity. Harald Hardrada: The Last Great Viking Leader, he would fight as a teen at the Battle of Stiklestad. this was a famous battle in history for Normandy. In this Battle King Olaf II was killed, the King of Norway. Harald was a part of a mercenary for jaroslav. Then two years later he wiped out Svein at a battle of Fulford Gate. Then he was named the last great Viking warrior kings after he died at the battle of Stamford Bridge.

The Scandinavians have alway had their units of warfare on their tribes. The subdivision of the units were to family or the clan. Family was considered as a combat group, the interwoven clans were known as aett. The aett alway trained, raided and battled together, they have a mass burial ground that is for the members of the aett who died in
