1. What type of narrative structure is Faulkner using here? Why does he “tell” the story this way? If you were the author, what would you do? Faulkner is using a circular narrative structure. I believe he is doing this to put the readers into suspense and finally surprise them. For example the town didn't know about Homer Barron until Emily died, we are told the death of miss Emily at the beginning, Then her actions while she was alive comes randomly, and finally the discovery of the corpse of Homer Barron. Had we been told the death of Homer Barron at the beginning, the story would have been boring. If I were the author, I would do the same thing, because I like suspense and surprise. 2.
