Throughout time, writing has been a very influential style of literature that has changed the opinions of many people. All authors have their own style of writing and certain ways that allows them to emphasize their arguments and own opinions. Some ways that are effective for authors are intertwining their ideas through the characters or even through the setting of the story. In addition to this, Upton Sinclair was a major author who had been very successful in introducing his ideas in his writing and overall changing the views of many. When Sinclair was only twenty years of age, he had already decided his future life, and this was to become noatable novelist. Moreover, he worked as a freelance journalist in order to pursue his future dreams. His life continued on and eventually married a woman named Meta Fuller, and they had a child of their own. Their sons name was David and this was the only child they had together. To explain, Upton Sinclair and Meat Fuller’s marriage was not one that would be considered joyful and affectionate. Although Sinclair did not have the best marriage, it still encouraged him to publish his first novel and then many more form that point on. Ultimately, it was Sinclair’s political views on certain aspects that would allow him to fully succeed in his literary lifestyle. In his late years, Sinclair continued his creative ways of writing, but eventually stopped and put all of his attention towards his second wife, Mary Craig, who was near death. This did not last long and she eventually passed away. Furthermore, only two years after, Sinclair decided to marry for a third time, to a woman named Mary Willis. Finally, Upton Sinclair died on November 25, 1968, and lived to be ninety-years-old. Today the American people see Upton Sinclair as a muckraker and activist with little attachment to the great knowledge he attained. We attribute Upton Sinclair to one book he wrote, The Jungle, when he wrote numerous books that were widely publicized and talked about during his day. The articles from his time appeared to include his overall literary importance. The single thing that has differed from the way he is viewed now as opposed to how he was portrayed during his time is that we removed the negative assessments of him based on his political and social beliefs. When he was little, he was smarter than most kids his age. He was a brilliant man who used his skills and talents to form America the way he felt it needed to be. When Sinclair joined the Socialist group, he made the life changing decision to research a meat-packing plant. This allowed him to become a heroic figure for others. Sinclair was able to write a novel called The Jungle. This was a novel that showed the pain, tragedy, and suffering of the meat-packing industry. He discovered the unhealthy tendencies in these factories and revealed them to the public. Shocking everyone, President Theodore Roosevelt made two laws called the Pure Food and Drug Act and the Meat Inspection Act. These assured safety for the employees of these factories, along with easing the minds of people eating these meats. With this accomplishment on his long resume, he was able to buy a Socialist community and provide for his fellow Socialists. When this community burnt down, he carried on with his life, marrying three women. Even though Sinclair died shortly after marrying his third wife, his talent and abilities have lived on to show people today the importance of exposing the

The book could have been written by a wealthy politician or a poor farmer. The mystery of the author could easily drag everyone into the book and focus on the simple ideas behind it. Everyone could relate to the huge ideas in the book well, keeping a simple vocabulary. The book was a huge hit with everyone and is possibly one of the best books written of all time.
Although this book was written about the hardships of a family, it was not just a story for one to read and feel sympathy for the family, but it had many "real-life" reasons behind the events that went on and happened. Sinclair wanted to open the eyes of people and make them aware of what was going on, and ultimately, wanted to start a revolution to change the political system from capitalism to socialism.

David Foster Wallace exemplified these ideas through his unique style. His writing contained jumbled ideas with copious footnotes and acronyms that he invented. Upton Beall Sinclair began writing when he was 15 years old. He mostly wrote ethnic jokes and fiction for a fun magazine. He wrote these silly stories and jokes in order for the magazine to pay for his studies at New York City College. After he was done at New York City College, in 1897, he enrolled at Columbia University. By this time, Upton was putting out many novels and respected works. He was already being realized as one of the greatest writers of his time. Upton was putting out up to two novels per week. This was unheard of at this point in time. During these years he wrote Clif Faraday stories such as "Ensign Clarke Fitch." He was also writing Mark Mallory Stories like "Lieutenant Frederick Garrison" for boys’ weekly magazine.
