It has come to my attention that there are some issues concerning moral at our location. I, along with many others, feel as if the poor atmosphere here is having a negative effect on everyone who enters the building, whether they are a customer or employee. The main things contributing to this atmosphere are our non-personalized goals, poor recognition for hard work, issues with breaks, and ineffective training. This has translated to frustration and poor customer service. Because these affect this business in such a negative way, I would like to offer some suggestions on how we might be able to improve these current problems and create better service for our customers.
Unrealistic Goals and Expectations
To put it simply, it is very challenging to enjoy working here, and this, unfortunately, projects onto our customers. One of our problems is the unrealistic expectations when it comes to work performance. These expectations include, how fast an order must be made, how many customers we get through the drive through every hour, and how quickly an order must be taken. I understand that having goals is important, but in my time here, I have never seen anyone keep up with times and goals, and because of this, I question what these goals are based on. Managers tell employees that they have to work over 5 hours in order to get a break even though this is not the store’s policy. Not only that, but many employees don’t get a break when they are working 7-8 hour shifts. This is due to a few factors. The first is that we are usually understaffed.
