Has one ever thought about why licenses are needed in the world? Well, humans require licenses for many things, to drive, to pursue certain careers, or to rent houses. If one thinks about it, the main reason behind these licenses is to make the world a peaceful and safe place to live in. However, should there not also be a license to protect helpless kids from child abuse and neglect? In 2014, there were an estimated 702 000 victims of child maltreatment. Child maltreatment includes abuse and neglect, which is the failure of a parent to provide for a child’s basic needs. What is the reason for these shocking statistics? Humans can see the result of unlicensed parenting, as a violent crime occurred every 25.3 seconds and a property crime occurred every 3.5 seconds in the U.S in 2010. Drugs, medical problems, and family conditions are in the top 10 reasons of crime. These reasons of crime, are all results of unlicensed parenting. For example, substance abuse can make a child become very aware of drugs at a young age. Or a violent or inappropriate environment in the household, would make a child adapt to that lifestyle. Also, without a parenting license, kids would go through depression and other mental health issues from abuse and neglect. All these possibilities, will result in crimes and social problems in the future. Why not put one simple license into effect which will protect society in the future from the chance of horrid crimes? All types of abuse and neglect have terrible impacts on children which they will carry on in their lives. As studies form J Board showed before, the chain of the way kids are being raised will continue and it will get worse. This generation will soon be the heads of the world who will shape our future. Soon, there might not be people in whose hands the future can be shaped, with horrible citizens. Merely, the income of families is causing neglect, as kids’ basic needs are not provided to them. A real world example, children and youth living in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut are most at risk of child maltreatment, with rates at least double those recorded in the provinces (Statistics Canada). Also, according to the same source, in 2015, the Northwest Territories had an extremely low GDP Per Capita of 4828 and Nunavut with 2447. These numbers are due to lack of income received by an average worker. Due to this lack of money, it is impossible to provide the basic needs of children which makes a child also feel neglected. A parent must also have intellectual and emotional skills to ensure that a child does not become neglected. It is not a piece of cake to raise children and licensed parenting will guarantee that a child is raised appropriately without having to face abuse and neglect. Moving on, does society want plastered couples raising children and caring for them? Well, it would be terrible for the eyes, torture for the children, and risking the future of humanity. A real life case that involved 2 drunk babysitters, who showed negligence toward a child, took place a while back. These babysitters went to Kokomo's Big Daddy's Strip Club early one day, and got themselves drunk. The
