The global health challenge discussed in this week’s readings is unintentional injuries. Unintentional injuries is one of the leading cause of deaths and disability-adjusted life years (DALYS) worldwide. In addition, unintentional injuries is almost twice as those who died of lung cancer or HIV/AIDS. Unintentional injuries are “that subset of injuries for which there is no evidence of predetermined intent.” The unintentional injuries usually comes from road injury, poisoning, falls, fires, and drowning. In 2010, low and middle income suffer road injury. Drowning, fires, and falls had the same amount of death. Poisoning is only half of the amount of death from drowning, fires, and fall.
