In the source, the viewer is presented with the idea that ideologies have a role in their own undoing and capitalisms issue is the environmental impact. In the source there is a picture of a large city in the background and in the foreground is a pile of garbage. This is accompanied by a quotation by Lester Brown and in short, he compares socialism's failure based on the economic issues to capitalisms possible failure based on ecological destruction. This speaks of the very bleak possibility of capitalist failure, connected with the title saying, “The downfall of unchecked Capitalism” Referring to the entire source as an allegory to the title message. At it’s route capitalism is a system where private ownership is values over public, this connects with individualism, competition, self interest, and many of the ideologies that come with classical liberalism. When a business does not have to worry about the environment they can create cheaper production practices, distribution practices and can save money in many ways. An example of this in Canada is with our oil fields. No one can claim the environmental impact of the oil fields is responsible towards the environment, but this is exasperated when the regulation is lacking, oil sand is a form developing and it is very intense on carbon use, when a company goes bankrupt there is no one to clean up their leftovers, and our economy depends on the oil field! The Kyoto project is an example of the priorities of our societies, it was an initiative to slow down the emission of greenhouse gases and Canada agreed initially to later back out, as well as the United States. A juxtaposition to this is first nations relationship to the land, in their culture they foster a respect for the land that is entirely ignored in capitalism.
