In Unaccustomed Earth’s, “Nobody’s Business”, emphasizes on the thirty-year-old Bengali women Sang, who lives with two of her house mates Paul and Heather. Often all times, Sang is asked for marriage by many men however, she always rejects all of them as she is in a relationship with Farouk, an Egyptian man. As their relationship became muddled, Sang traveled to London to visit her sister. While she was away, Paul received a phone call from a girl named Deirdre revealing her secretly love affair with Farouk to Paul. Now Paul is more concerned over Sang after he witnessed the obstacles occurring between her and Farouk. Paul’s personality develops towards the story as his actions change. As Paul asks softly whom is calling, the person nods “I am her boyfriend” (183). The words drowned painfully deep into his chest. At this moment, it seems as if he is passionate towards Sang. Now, most of the days Sang is occupied with Farouk. That has left Paul feeling lonely. Some things began to change between Paul and Sang. as Sang stated “I am sorry, Paul, I can’t help it, I just don’t like the way you kiss me” (187). Similar to Paul’s situation that happened between Sang and Farouk. How would the person react if they found out that their loved one is being cheated on? Will they get into their business, so they end the lies they live in? Perhaps Paul needed Sang’s attention, maybe she was blind during her relationship. It may be that Paul was showing her how much he cares for her, it was a way to express his devotion towards her. Anyone would out act to a person if they truly loved and cared for them.
