There are points in life wherein individuals tend to escape from reality and isolate themselves from the people and the problems around them. People are different in many ways; some cope with stress easily, and some can be devoured by their problems and are unable to find resolution. Solitude is a broad term associated with social isolation. It may be classified into different types. Based on previous studies, scholars and psychologists were able to mention the possible types of solitude one may find in an individual. The researchers in reference to these researches have been able to identify the types of solitude present in the novel One Hundred Years of Solitude.
The following are types of solitude that were found to be present in the novel: the solitude of lovelessness, the solitude of pride, the solitude of fear, the solitude of beauty, the solitude of rebellion, the solitude of hate, the solitude of class, the solitude of bashfulness, the shared of solitude of love, the solitude of servitude, the solitude of selflessness, the solitude of guilt, the solitude of love, the solitude of passion, the solitude of incest, the solitude of location, the solitude of grief, and finally, the solitude of death. These are the types of solitude that are present in the studies; solitude of pride, solitude of wrong values, and solitude of hatred caused by the war (Mendoza, 1997).
Solitude has greatly affected almost all of the characters in the novel One Hundred Years of Solitude most especially the members of the Buendia family. The community of Macondo has also been impacted by power of solitude.

With the many types of solitude we researchers can say that solitude is indeed an inescapable state of human nature, because each of us have been bombarded with a lot of problems in our life, all of us definitely had our own share of loneliness and hatred. Solitude might be an inescapable state of human nature, but it’s really up to the people on how they can conquer solitude and for people to compromise with reality because if you are unable to compromise with reality you will fall into a deep solitude wherein nobody can get you of it. Solitude is an inescapable state of human nature, but when it’s detected and remedied early in your life it can be reversible.
