“The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that is taken place.” (George Bernard Shaw). People thin that communication is the most important part of any relationship but that is not always the case. Just because a family does not talk to each other every day does not mean they do not love or cared for each other any less. When people think of family they have this idea of everyone living in the same house having every meal together. This would be nice but, not every family is perfect. Some families split apart because they want different things withy their lives but that does not mean that they are not family anymore. Communication can only go so far in family relationships. The two sisters were born sand raised in India with their families. They decided to move to America to find better opportunities. Both of the sisters moved to different parts of America where they could not easily drive to go see each other. They still stay in touch, “Mira and I have stayed sisterly close by phone. In our regular Sunday morning conversations, we are unguardedly affectionate. I am her only blood relative on this continent.” (2). They talk on the phone because they love and care about each other. They do not ever get to see each other but they still want to keep in contact. This shows communication is important because the sisters want hear how the other one is doing. Even though they talk on the phone they do not go and visit each other. The communication method they have can only take them so far. Also in this short story it is shown that communication is not necessary. When they moved away from India one of the sisters planned on going back once she retired to spend the rest of her life with her family but the other sister did not. The sister that did not want to move back wants to go visit her family but she does not want to move back to India. When hanging
