I believe the two most important amendments in the bill of rights are the first and ninth. The first amendment has more options when it comes to liberty. The ninth covers all the rights that are not listed but are natural rights, and no one can take it away. Amendment one was created to give many liberties such as freedom of speech, religion, assemble and press. Freedom of speech is one of the most important freedoms we have. However, there might be consequences if you say things that endanger people. For example, freedom of speech does not cover obscenity, child pornography, true threats, and defamation. The Constitution lays out the rights and obligations of the newly formed United States government. But, what of the rights and obligations of its citizens? Starting in 1791 only two years after the Constitution was ratified the Constitution began to evolve and this process continues to this day. The first ten amendments to the Constitution are known as the Bill of Rights. This Bill of Rights outlines the protections which citizens have from the government of the United States. The question raised in the title of this paper is; Are the Bill of Rights, written well over 200 years ago still relevant today? Of course they are and probably even more so. To illustrate this fact we will examine each of the ten amendments rewrite each one using common everyday language of today and if possible discuss why this was important in 1791 and why we may or may not need this document in writing today. In restating each amendment I will try to write it as if it is a brand new document, which is a stretch to say the least. With out the struggle of the colonies through war and abuse by the English Monarchy would one have the foresight to see how a government may take for granted the rights of its citizenry?
The Bill of Rights the first ten amendments to the US Constitution, ratified in 1791 and guaranteeing such rights as the freedoms of speech, assembly, and worship. These were the basic principles of the Bill of rights. These were the principles that American people was fighting for in the Revolutionary war. In the summer of 1787 thirteen delegates got together and came up with the Constitution. As things progressed they found out that the Constitution was deeply flawed and they needed to find a way to correct the problems that they had.
The Bill of Rights is a very important document for American citizens. The Bill of Rights is the beginning part of the American Constitution, which is made up of the first ten amendments which state our basic rights as United States’ citizens. It ensures us of our freedoms that cannot be taken away from us. However, I do believe that there is a certain amendment out of the ten that should be revised; this would be the Eighth Amendment. The Eighth Amendment reads “Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishment inflicted.”
On December 15, 1791, the Bill of Rights was ratified effective by Congress. These first ten amendments to the Constitution of the United States of America promised the states certain rights and freedoms which could not be infringed by the government. After all, the founding fathers knew from experience that men in their weakness were often tempted by power. They had become all too familiar with this when under the control of King George in England. Therefore, in order to protect the future people of their beautiful country, they promised certain liberties which could not be taken away. Every single one of these freedoms is important for the United States of America. However, the second amendment is especially important to our nation because it allows the people to protect their freedom and defend themselves and the common good against an overreaching government.
The Second Amendment to the Constitution(Second Amendment) of the United States of America(USA) is one of the most controversial. The Second Amendment specifically grants that, "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed"
Furthermore, these seven amendments that I have covered are not all fundamental rights that the Federal government has given to us. The Supreme Court uses selective incorporation to determine which one they believe the framers intended us to have, but I believe that they should all be fundamental rights. That’s the whole reason I believe the Bill of Rights was drafted in the first place. The states and the individual people wanted to be protected with all these rights. In the end, the Bill of Rights and Constitution is an ongoing issues in our courts today and will be because everyone has their own interpretation of the language that was used.
The constitution of the United States of America contains the amendments that give American citizens their everyday rights and privileges. “Within the first eight amendments of the Bill of Rights, there are 25 specific liberties and protections for individuals. Of those 25 protections, fifteen relate directly to the criminal process.” This information comes from sixthamendment.org. These amendments include things like: freedom of speech, the right to a speedy and fair trail, the right to a grand jury and right to a fair trial in cases of criminal trials, and the right to bail. In this essay we will discuss only the Fifth, Sixth and Eighth amendment and how it protects the citizens of the United States.
No argument shall take place against amendment one, amendment two, and amendment four because they apply in daily lives of all citizens. All citizens should freely speak their mind without disturbing public education. Citizens should remember about the National Firearms act before buying any firearms and getting a militia type gun or a shotgun with an eighteen inch barrel. Officers are required to have a search warrant before entering a citizens home, but school officials need a reasonable reason before searching a student’s belongings. School officials and students also should remember the exclusionary rule. The Bill of Rights and all other amendments served every citizen like a forever helping friend. The Supreme court plays its role to make decisions for cases that act as role models for other citizens and in the future.
Yet, still even with this, the American people still needed individual protection from the government. With this being said, the Bill of Rights was created to further protect the liberties of American citizens. The Bill of Rights is a list of ten amendments that would guarantee the rights of the people (Bill of Rights). This document was created to ensure the government did not get too much power, but current day it can be observed how the government is trying to clip away at these amendments, trying to convince the people that they are not necessary. This can be seen with the two most currently most debated amendments, the first and second (Discussing Controversial Topics). The First Amendment, as stated in the Bill of Rights, is as so, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the

The United States’ Bill of Rights, of course, have rights that may or may not be important than the others. But, in my opinion, the 1st amendment would be the most important for every American citizen to possess. This Amendment states: United States citizens have the freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition. The three reasons why the 1st amendment is the most important are because it protects my beliefs and the peoples’ beliefs, our speech, and our rights to protest from the wrongdoings.
All of the amendments are important, but the first amendment listed upon the Bill of Rights boldly stands out to me more than the other nine. “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.” As well thought out the amendments are written, I have to lower the vocabulary to understand what message our founders were trying to indicate: Freedom of religion, speech, and press; rights of petition and assembly. Because this amendment is so powerful, I chose it to be the most important out of the Bill of Rights. This amendment makes our country who we are and allows anybody belonging to any religion to practice freely without feeling
The rights that the first amendment gives that I would choose is the freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom of assembly. These are the best rights given in the first amendment in my opinion. These help america the most so that there is less conflict.

The First Amendment states; “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, of prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
I believe the first amendment, the freedom of speech, is the most important amendment of all. It is what allows us humans to think as individuals and voice our opinions. If we were not allowed the first amendment we would all be clones and wouldn’t voice anything we felt people wouldn’t agree with or relate to. This has become an issue where the freedom of speech is not respected as it was intended.
