Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1960 First of all Tulsa Oklahoma was were the book Outsiders took place. It was filled with gangs such as Greasers and Socs, the city was very dangerous so kids should not be outside without an adult. There are many fun things to do for adults and kids. There are many drive in movies not just romance movies but they also play films for kids! They were a very popular thing for people to do on Friday nights. There was lots of fun things to do but kids also had to go to school. The boys and girls had to wear uniforms and the school was pretty strict on what they had to wear. Most of the schools were white because of segregation. Most of the schools were probably filled with Socs. For lunch food at the schools they never really served beef but they did serve eggs,cheese, and crackers to drink they sold water, milk, and chicken broth. Also most teens that could drive and afford a car would go cruising with their friends in their cars. After the sun went down because most of the cars were convertibles. Nowadays cruising in cars would be FaceTiming your friends on your phone. Cruising in your car after dark wasn’t the only thing you did to keep cool there was also a very popular place to get frozen treats it was called Tastee Freez. It was very popular in 50s and over the years in the 60s it turned into Dairy Queen. There were two other social groups that were not as bad as the Greasers and the Socs they were the jocks and hipsters. The jocks are the athletic guys in the gangs.(they aren't very smart) They can be very aggressive and stuck up because they are good at sports. They are also just usually the bullies of the school. The hippies are always about being independent and have a free spirit. They are usually wearing colorful clothes and are all about recycling
