Trois-Rivieres is a place of cultural, economic, and physical diversity. Located in a country with a deep history, which is also growing into modern times, Trois-Rivieres shows its 375-year-old history by contributing to modern development. Economically, Trois-Rivieres has many resources, but the main economic resource is manufacturing which is always changing. In particular, the St. Lawrence River is connected to the three-armed delta that gave Trois-Rivieres its name. The natural vegetation is as diverse as the city as it ranges from forests to grasslands. Trois-Rivieres is small city with much to offer. More specifically, Trois-Rivieres is located in an area with flat and rolling hills, and fertile soils that play a huge part of Trois-Rivieres’s economy. The formation of the Great Lakes-St Lawrence Lowlands happened during the Paleozoic era. “The Great Lakes-St Lowlands were formed by the effects of glaciation. This is caused the city’s rolling landscape where flat plains are interrupted with glacial hills and deep river valleys. After the glacial period, when a large volume of water melted out from the glaciers, the lakes were large, even larger than they are today. However, the lakes shrank to their present size, and flat plains of sediments remained. These sediments formed excellent soil for farming” (Pandya, n.d). This process left behind a large amount of sediment rock, which was beneficial for the manufacturing industry. Furthermore, the natural vegetation in Trois-Rivieres is a combination of deciduous and coniferous trees, which include trees such as maple, walnut, oak, spruce, hemlock, and elm. However, overtime, the vast forest area has decreased because of industrial factories expanding. (See Appendix B) Trois-Rivieres has a climate that is very similar to elsewhere in Canada, which is characterized by fluctuating temperatures month-to-month. In particular, Trois-Rivieres’s climate is continental, but it is humid due to its close proximity to a river. (See appendix). The summers are warm with temperatures that rise to 25°C. Autumn tends to be quite cool, but it is not uncommon to have days that are unreasonably hot or cold. Winter can be short and frigid ranging from -7.3°C to -17.6°C. The precipitation annually is quite low, but in May to October, it is quite heavy (See appendix A). The Two major rivers are close to Trois-Rivieres and they there are called the St. Lawrence River and Saint-Maurice River.
This is a report based on three days of observations and testing in the region known as the Peterborough drumlin field. It will address a variety of regional elements, such as climate, soil, vegetation, hydrology, geomorphology, and geology. A variety of sites located on the Canadian Shield, the zone of thick glacial deposits to the south, and the transition between them will be the focus of the report. It is supplemented with previous research on the region. September 8, 1999, day one of the field study involved an area of largely granite bedrock that is part of the Canadian Shield and is the most northern point of study (see Map 2). September 9, 1999, day two, involved three main areas of study: the Bridgenorth esker (Map 3), Mark S. Burnham Park (Map 4), and the Rice Lake drumlin (Map 6). These sites are in areas of thick glacial deposits. September 10, 1999, day three, involved studying the Warsaw Caves (see Map 5) as a transition zone between Precambrian Shield rock to the north and Paleozoic rock to the south. A general map of the entire study region is provided by Map 1.
Sedimentary rock from the older Silurian Period is further from the river banks (Geological map of Victoria, 1973). Mudstone, inter-bedded shale and greywacke depositions indicate the Maribyrnong River may have previously taken a different shape, and younger sediments have replaced the older sediments in more recent geological periods.

The climate of the Canadian Shield is somewhat the same as the weather in Ottawa. the climate in the northern part of the Canadian Shield is long and cold winters and short and warm summers. The southern part of the Canadian Shield has cold and snowy winters and warm summers.

St. Boniface, originally named Winfrith, was an extremely studious man, a converted monk, priest, missionary and finally martyr. Born in 672, near Exeter, England, St. Boniface at an early age developed a desire to follow the path of God and live a monastic life. Through non-stop prayer and religious practices, he tuned his mind and body to reach beyond the obstacles and enticements of everyday life at his young adult age. He was a major influence on society during his life and affected the lives and history of Germany permanently. Often called the “Apostle of Germany”, St. Boniface was a strong believer in the principles of the Church and truly wanted to open any pagan believers minds to the knowledgeable and rewarding path of the Christian life.
Quebec, “La Belle Province”, is a unique province within the Canadian federation. This uniqueness doesn’t come as a result of the beautiful landscapes or the widespread corruption in the province. Rather, Quebec’s distinctiveness stems from the complexities surrounding its national identity. These nuances intertwine with the already complicated political, economic, and social layers constitute the Quebecois intricate fabric.
Not every great writer can be correct in what he or she is saying. This is the idea that Gaunilo had in mind when he wrote his criticism to St. Anselm’s Ontological Argument which states that if something greater than anything else that could be thought of is conceived in the understanding then it must exist. Gaunilo says it is foolish to believe in the existence of something just because it is understood. He says there must be some kind of other explanation. In this paper, I will try to explain both Anselm’s theory and Gaunilo’s argument by first breaking each of them down in simpler terms. I will attempt to show what Gaunilo is trying to discredit with his objection.
I enjoyed the book Medicine River, by Thomas King as well as the movie, which was based on the book. Although there were profound differences between the two, they were both pleasantly constructed. Having been instructed to read the book first, I was able to experience the full effect of the story and the message that the author intended for his readers. Although the book and the movie clearly relayed the same story, I would’ve better enjoyed the movie if it had included more incidents from the book, such as the visit from Harlen Bigbear’s estranged brother, and the ‘bridge jump’. I also wish the producer would have incorporated the many flashbacks that the main protagonist, Will, had from his youth. For example, the letters written by his father to his mother; the stories about his mother and her best friend; and the relationship with his brother James, namely, the childhood pranks that they played on one another. I am, however, aware of the time constraints involved when producing a motion picture, and I realize that the script had to be somewhat altered considering the medium at hand.
