In the readings “Trifles” by Susan Glaspell and “The Fish” by Elizabeth Bishop, the author’s portray what the rewards are just by paying close attention to things people tend to overlook. Like most people say “never judge a book by its cover” is a quote that perfectly fits in with these stories. People do things that aren't quite understandable to others, but that's only because everyone has their own reasonings behind everything they do. Everything happens for a reason! The only thing you have control over is perspective. You don't have control over the situation. But you do have a choice about how you perceive it. While gathering belongings, they find evidence and decide to keep quiet about it. Not only did they exclude their men, but they made a choice to hide their evidence. While the men come to the crime scene and attempt to look through like legal investigators. From room to room, they find nothing and are certain that they have nothing; no evidence. While Mrs.Hale and Mrs.Peters are gathering Mrs.Wright's belongings, they begin to start looking at this whole situation in her perspective. They go through her memories, memories of their own to compare themselves to her and also speculate her feelings. In her sewing box was where the evidence was found. They found Mrs.Wright's dead pet bird and that was a motive that the men couldn't find. It was enough to convict Mrs.Wright of murder, but the women didn’t want to do that. As the women observed the bird, they noticed it has been strangled and set aside nicely in the piece of rich material box. Mrs.Hale and Mrs.Peters discuss the details of Mrs.Wright’s life and overlook the situation by paying close attention. Mrs.Hale finds the bird and shows Mrs.Peters. Mrs.Hale goes, “But Mrs.Peters-- look at it! Its neck! Look at its neck! It’s all--to the other side” (9). Mrs.Peters responds, “Somebody--wrung--its--neck” (9). They noticed her pet bird was tortured and killed… Clearly it was done by Mrs.Wright's husband which would lead her to killing
