Transvestic Fetishism
Introduction
Someone you know-any male close to you-could be having a secret "affair" behind closed doors and you may not even be aware of it. Not to worry, it may not involve another woman. This man may be having an affair with female clothing. If so, it is safe to say that this man is suffering from a transvestic fetish.
What is a transvestic fetish?
Transvestic Fetishism is a psychosexual disorder found mostly in men. To better understand this disorder, we must first look at the definition. Transvestism is defined as dressing in the clothing of the opposite sex to achieve sexual arousal, excitement, and gratification. Fetishism is the reliance on nonhuman objects as the preferred or exclusive method of achieving sexual excitement. The major symptom of fetishism is the use of nonliving objects to obtain sexual arousal. The most common fetish objects are articles of women's clothing such as bras, underpants, stockings, shoes and boots. The individual will often masturbate while fondling, kissing, or smelling the fetish object. In other cases, the individual's sexual partner will wear the object during sexual encounters, thereby providing an arousing stimulus that enables the fetishist to participate in otherwise normal sexual behavior. Thus, men suffering from transvestic fetishism gain sexual pleasure from dressing in women's clothing, a behavior defined as cross-dressing.
Cross-dressing can range from wearing only one article of women's clothing while alone to dressing completely in women's clothing and appearing that way in public. In some cases, the cross-dressing is so effective that it is difficult to distinguish a cross-dressed transvestite from a woman. However, the person's goal is not to "pass" but to achieve arousal.
Cross-dressing seems to be exclusively male behavior, and there is really no explanation for it. There is no evidence of any hormonal or genetic abnormality. One explanation is that childhood experience with cross-dressing may have been associated with sexual play and arousal. One sample of transvestites found that 78 percent were either married or formerly married, and marital friction is one of the main reasons that transvestites seek therapy.
A man with a transvestic fetish will often masturbate while dressed in women's clothes and will fantasize about other men being attracted to him while he is dressed in those clothes. In a very limited number of cases, homosexuals may cross-dress to attract other men, but the homosexuals do not gain sexual pleasure from the cross-dressing and are therefore not diagnosed as having a transvestic fetishism.
The transvestite community is one was rarely accepted in the 1970’s compared to that of today's world. They were known to be trivial and shameful in mainstream society, and those who identified as trans were deemed ridiculous. This did not stop the song “Lola” by the Kinks from reaching number two on the UK Singles Chart. Which subtly composed a passionate love story between a young man and a distinctly masculine woman. Despite the negative feelings about transvestites during the time when “Lola” was released, Ray Davies used powerful metaphors and a catchy chorus to create positive vibes towards transvestites and supports justifying everyone in the LGBT community.
The story, The Road, begins with an unnamed man and boy in the woods. The story is set in a “post-apocalyptic world,” with the date, time and location unknown. “McCarthy himself imagines the disaster to be a meteor strike, although he claims that "his money is on humans destroying each other before an environmental catastrophe sets in (Cooper);” others say they see the setting as a post nuclear war setting. Throughout the reading, the reader can assume that the story takes place in the United States because the man mentions following the “state roads.” We first see the man and boy in the woods, it is morning time and the man has just risen from his sleep. He checks on the boy and then walks to the road to get his bearings. He thinks it is October but is unsure because he has not kept a calendar in a long time, indicating that the area has been desolate for an extended amount of time. They plan to move South, hoping that the climate will provide for less harsh winters. When he goes back to camp, the boy wakes up and they have breakfast. After they eat, they pack up all their belongings and head along the road. They push a cart with supplies and carry a knapsack with their essential belongings, should they need to abandon the cart and run for safety. They come across an abandoned gas station where the man finds old bottles of oil they can burn in their lamp and a phone where he tries to dial the number to his father’s house but there is no phone service any more. They continue their walk after gathering all they could from the station. They crest a hill and see all the ashen houses and billboards in the city below. They make camp for the night under a rock cliff after it starts to rain. The next morning they walk through the city...
The knowledge of the dress code makes transgender people to wear boy or girl clothes. Parents in some cases may allow a certain behavior from their kids as a prize for achievement of high grades. The use of the knowledge may come with many rewards. In the article Why transgender teen Jazz Jennings is everywhere
Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird portrayed an era of extreme prejudice and ignorance. Throughout the novel, these specific characteristics were noticed in the behavior of Maycomb’s residents, especially during the trial of Tom Robinson – a highly publicized court case involving a black man convicted of raping a white girl from a despicable family. Although it became obvious throughout the trial that Robinson was innocent, and the girl’s father was the real culprit, Tom Robinson was convicted mainly due to social prejudice toward his race. The unjust result of this trial deeply disturbed the main characters of the novel: Scout and Jem, the children of the defense attorney of the trial, Atticus Finch. Since the story took place in the 1930s, racism was still widely accepted in society, and most of the residents in Maycomb openly professed their derogatory views on people of a different race or social standard. Growing up in a family that believed in egalitarianism, Scout and Jem faced backlash from the community since their father was fighting for a black man in the Tom Robinson trial. Amid these two highly conflicting environments, Scout and Jem had many unanswered questions and no support in the community during these tough times. Additionally, the Maycomb community was plagued with injustice due to discrimination and racism. However, there was one character in the novel who remained open-minded and unprejudiced even in the face of tradition and communal ignorance. A close neighbor of the Finch’s, who shared the same moral views as Atticus, Miss Maudie served as a mother figure to young Scout and Jem, who were going through a tough time in the community. Although Miss Maudie may not have had enough power to change the prejudice...
In this essay, authors J. Michael Bailey and Kiira Triea try to disprove the “feminine essence theory” which they consider to be a misconception of transsexuals. Using research from Ray Blanchard, a University of Toronto professor and sexologist who performed extensive studies on male-to-female transsexuals, the authors explain transsexuals are being part of two separate groups. According to them, a transsexual may either be a homosexual transsexual or an autogynephilic transsexual. Autogynephilia is a term coined by Ray Blanchard and is defined as “inner-directed heterosexuality. That is, autogynephilic males are like heterosexual men, except that their primary sexual attraction is to the image or idea of themselves as women” (Bailey). The authors associate this condition with other paraphilias such as masochism. The authors argue that if you are not homosexual then you are most certainly autogynephilic (Bailey). This essay is relevant to my research because it contradicts the majority of what I have read concerning the “feminine essence theory” and because it summarizes much of Blanchard’s research. However, I do not necessarily agree with this research because it appears that only sexual orientation was taken into consideration towards their concept of gender identity.

Transsexuals see themselves as an actual man or women. The don’t realized that no matter what they do to change their sex, some in society will still see them as that man or women their were born as . For society, the topic of reverse gender is complex with various emotions. Moreover, individuals frequently marked them as misfits, not understanding the genuine essence of being man or woman. There are many arguments that state, psychological disorders do not change a person gender, no matter how trapped they might seem, as
“When trannies were growing up and coming of age-there was no place for us. We were kinda put on the fringes of society...the real safe space for us was out there on the streets” (Trans Views). OR “Gender is a universe and we are all stars” (Lacey Roop). Transgenderism can be best described as moving away from the gender assigned at birth. This can mean wearing the clothes, taking on the roles, and assuming the pronouns of a gender designated at birth, or rejecting gender entirely . Gender variance and transgenderism, although seen commonly throughout human history, are seen as unnatural and an insult to the sex that God “gave”. Many believe that sex and gender is the same thing, and therefore assume that one that is biologically female is a woman, and one that is biologically male is a man. There is a common misunderstanding that transgenderism is an expression of homosexuality, assuming that the trans person is straight. Sometimes, transgender is seen as a gender of its own, excluding transmen and transwomen from their own gender.
Many students struggle with college for various reasons, whether it is financial, academics, or personal. We may not fully understand why college students struggle the way they do; however, it does not mean help is unavailable. “Clearly, many of the benefits that accrue from a college education are explained by the knowledge, skills, and contacts that students gain from their time on campus and in the classroom (Brock 2)”. A certain degree of success in life can be related to the amount and quality of education which can also relate to income.
In today's world there are many different sexual identities a person can adhere to, instead of just being heterosexual or homosexual. What a sexual identity is, is how one refers to think of oneself in terms of whom one is romantically or sexually attracted to. A type of sexual identity is when a person both male or female feel like they are inside the wrong body and they wish to have a sex change. Individuals who identify themselves as transgender aren’t usually adults, in some cases it is children who go through the stages of feeling out of place with there bodies and wish to change it. Some people in today's society would find it very odd that children would wish to be in a different body, in order to understand why this is happening you would have to know what exactly is transgender and transsexual, what causes transgenderism, and the early signs of transgenderism. This phenomenon has been around for a very long time and due to the fact that there is a large misunderstanding there is much confusion when faced with it. In order for one to understand how children become transgender or transsexual one must know what transgender and transsexual mean, what causes transgenderism, and the early signs of it and be mentally prepared for what is to come. Most of the responsibility in understanding transgender children falls on the parents of transgender children.

Typically, it is understood that men are people with male bodies, and women are people with female bodies. However, these lines can get blurred when one’s gender identity does not coincide with their sex. An example of this is a transgender person, a person whose gender identity does not match their biological sex.
Nowadays, there are lot of unexpected changes are coming in our lives every day which are challenging to our society. Gender issue is one of the hot topics among new changes. Transsexuality is a critical part of this gender issue. After reading the article “Night to his day” by Judith Lorber, I found a clarification regarding the social construction of gender. While looking for some facts about transgender, I have also found a lot of articles with different point of views from researchers, scientists and individuals who has transformed from their origin to transgender men/women. Now I am going to describe why some men and women want to change their gender, what are the impacts on individuals and in the society?
Although both identities were rare during the 19th and 20th century—and even more rarely out in the open—cross-dressing has been better documented over the time period than homosexuality. There were many motivations behind why men and women would choose to dress as the opposite sex. Men more commonly are recorded for dressing as women for entertainment purposes because in mining towns there was a particularly skewed man to woman ratio. For parties and dances men would take turns dancing the role of male or female:
...rimenters would like to discover. If the experimenters are wanting to focus on gender norms, a more decisive way would be to tease this apart would be to have the confederates cross-dress, but be dressed up while cross-dressing. If the experimenters want to learn more about presentation of self and response of the world, but not taking into account gender norms or expectations, a study taking place in various settings, requiring different types of helping behavior would be best to see the external validity of this idea. Depending on the helping behavior that is required in the cross-dressing experiment, one would again expect more hesitation compared to those complying with gender norms. If the experiment focused on one’s presentation, one would expect that to an extent, the more effort and care it seems that one has put into themselves, others will respond in kind.
