Many Great leaders were in charge of the roman empire, one of which was Trajan. Trajan was born in the year AD 53. Trajan in his early life went into the army and served under his biological father as a tribune in spain (Wasson, 1). He had particular favor from the ruler Domitian in around AD 85-90. Even so that he proclaimed him a praetor after failing to make it in time to help fight the Saturninus rebellion. When domitian died Nerva was chosen as emperor, But he had no children and need to name a successor and so he “adopted” Trajan. When Nerva died to a sickness, Trajan succeeded him in AD 98. Trajan then lead the empire from then till AD 117. Trajan was always involved in the military and was considered a great general. It was the last forum ever built in rome and was recognized as a on of the greatest architectural structures in the time. Along with the forum he built Trajan's column, which at the base depicted the war against Dacia. Trajan had his strengths and weaknesses like any other ruler. His strengths were more involved with the military. He was very ruthless to enemies and feared by a lot of people even his own troops, which made him such a progressive general. He was very considerate of the people as most of what he did was to help them. He helped them with his public works and helping the provinces. His weaknesses were in the few ,but among the most important was his drinking problem. Trajan was regarded as one of the best emperors in the whole time of the empire. His public works help further the empire. His help of the provinces made them more loyal and grateful of the empire. His expansion on the other hand might not have been the best for the empire considering the empire's financial state, but it increased the roman’s land mass to one of its highest
