The purpose of this report is to describe the evolution of the traffic lights system since it was established until today. I am also fulfilling the course requirements.
Background:
Traffic lights act as a method of controlling the interaction between different elements using the same mode of movement. The traffic lights make life easy by controlling the movement among cars and humans. They tell humans and cars when to stop and when to keep moving. There was a big evolution in the traffic lights system. As I am going to discuss in this report, traffic lights were originally powered by gas and not by electricity. They were flashing to colors which were red and green. The traffic lights system kept changing during the years until we have the new system that people see these days.
Scope:
In this report, I am going to state when the traffic lights were established, why they were used, and how the system has improved since its implementation. It is hereby noted that maintenance and alternative versions of traffic lights are not discussed in this report.

There are more than 200,000,000 drivers on the road in the United States alone, what are the chances of you colliding with someone else running a red light? Red light cameras are raising controversy among citizens in every state, and individuals have had a difficult time finding the truth out of traffic cameras. Traffic limitations have created a better sense of safety on the streets but have also created further problems. The controversy that is around traffic cameras is a positive point into the safety of streets and the revenue that comes from people that fail to follow safety protocol. Traffic cameras have a characteristic that everyone is aware of, safety.
A simple Google search will turn up hundreds of studies based on the effectiveness of emergency lighting on the road. Obviously, this wealth of information is too vast to summarize in one article; however, there is one study that sticks out when discussing whether red or blue emergency vehicle lights are easier to see on the road. In this article, we will go over a study released by Lt. James D. Wells Jr. on behalf of the Florida Highway Patrol. This study was released in 2004 and concentrates mainly on emergency lighting configurations and the effectiveness of these lights in helping to reduce collisions on the road and keeping officers and emergency first responders safer on the road.

According to Lundy, “The study, “Children”, found a correlation between traffic fatalities and children being struck by vehicles in states with forbearing red-light camera regulations.” Even though opponents may argue that many school-zones speeding tickets are issued when the infraction did not put any children at risk as Lundy stated red-lights save children’s lives. Even if an infraction did not put a child’s life endanger, drivers should obey the rules of the road, and own up to their carelines. Bottom line, break a law you deserve to pay the consequence (i.e., costly ticket). Traffic control establishes a set of rules and regulations that people rely on to help avoid collisions and other hazards. With almost 160 million motorists and 3.8 million miles of public roads in the United States, traffic control on the highways is an important aspect of daily life. Without the control of speed there would be more fatalities than we already have now. Speed limits should be obeyed. A motorist going too slow could cause an accident. When everyone is traveling at the speed limit, a car comes up going 40 mph; if you break everyone will, too, perhaps causing a collision. Motorists depend on traffic control to avoid collisions and travel safely to their destination.
The primary point of traffic laws is safety, but also keeping order. Following traffic laws is one of the most essential aspects of driving and can increase your safety as well as of the people around you. Knowing the traffic rules in our region and applying them can prevent us from getting involved in an car accident and save us the pain and costs of a traffic ticket due to a violation. If we didn’t have any traffic laws there would be chaos on the roads and many disasters could happen.
Traffic congestion, is one of the major problems faced in the capitals and major cities in most countries. As with the increase in the growth rate, comes the growing demand for the use of transportation. This works with the response to the needs of the community.
