Climate change is a change in the climate patterns. It can occur due to increase in greenhouse gasses, natural variability, volcanic activity. A tornado is violent rotating winds that are characterized by funnel-shaped clouds. Climate change has a huge impact on the damage done by a tornado. St. Louis tornado, also known as the great cyclone, occurred in Many 1896. The great cyclone has been impacted by climate change as well. It is hard to connect each tornado to climate event because they occur on small scales. Since ways of detecting tornadoes and the growth of human populations, the occurrence and the destruction of tornadoes can be misleading. However, due to global warming, damage caused by tornadoes are increasing. St. Louis was one of the deadliest and more damaging hurricanes in Missouri during the 1900s. It was the …show more content…

“Elsner and his colleagues found that since the 1950s the number of days with large outbreaks have been increasing” (Tornado Outbreaks Could Have a Climate Change Assist). Even though it is still rare, the odds of having 32 tornadoes have doubled. These increases in tornadoes are happening in clusters in place that already receive a lot of tornadoes. According to popular science, the tornado season can be expanded. Unstable atmosphere due to global warming causes more thunderstorms that can cause tornadoes. Warm air and atmosphere also hold more water vapor which can cause more powerful tornadoes. Therefore, the intensity of a tornado can also increase due to climate change especially global warming. Jeff Trapp, the professor of atmospheric science, says that there may be more storms featuring signs of a twister (popular science). According to David Biello, “Climate change can cause up to 33% effect in terms of damage” (What Role Does Climate Change Play in Tornadoes). The damage caused by a tornado can also increase due to the increase in
