Hero is someone owns adore and admire from others. Everyone can be a hero, even if they are from the daily life. These people become exemplars who can encourage others to make progress and get success. In the story “The Hero”, Gary adores his friend Tony and praises him as a hero. At first, Gary describes Tony as a sports athlete. However, Tony is not only expert in sports, but also owns valuable personality. He dreams to be someone who is willing to sacrifice himself and benefit others. His advantages and qualities leave Gary very deep impression. Tony has great advantages on sports. He is the main force of the whole team. He always can handle every kind of situations in the games and helps his team to win. As Gary describes,

In another words, he is a hero who helps his teammate win the games. In addition, Tony also has a passionate heart. He is willing to show his kindness when his friends get in trouble. Especially when Gary makes mistake and becomes encumbrance to the whole team, he still encourages Gary to solve the problems. As Gary says,
“My teammates huddled over and begged Tony to let them take my place. Tony brought me to my feet by saying, ‘Try again.’ ”(102) Tony really proves his kindness and leadership by showing trust and encouragement to Gary. Although Tony is young and naive, but he understands the trick of being a leader. He should always trust and encourage his teammate. And this is the reason why Gary describes him as a hero. On the other hand, Gary also respects Tony’s qualities. He thinks Tony is the first poet he ever knows. Tony becomes emotional and poetic when he thinks everything about life after childhood. The term miracle on ice is one that will forever be linked to Her Brooks’ legacy, the fabled 1980 U.S. Olympic team which won the gold medal at Lake Placid, NY. According to Coach Brook’s, the team was mentally tough and goal-oriented. They came from all different walks of life, many having competed against one another, but they came together and grew to be a real close team. He pushed this team really hard. For anyone who has watched the movie or read the book it was obvious that it was his leadership was the cause of the team coming together to play as one. Jackie Robinson is a perfect leader to model after because of how he conducted himself as both an athlete and an individual. They are expected to model the way for their followers, and Jackie made sure to protest respectfully for concepts he did not believe in. Because of Jackie’s respectful attitude and ability to play, he was able to prove any doubter and critic wrong that an African American payer cannot play at the highest level of competition. Jackie leads the way by performing tremendously under the harshest conditions, leading teams to sign African Americans as well. If it hadn’t been for Branch Rickey trying to integrate the major leagues, who knows how long it would have been before the U.S. and the major leagues started to integrate.
Tonya Harding was a tough, rugged, arduous, young girl with a lot of potential in the sport of figure skating. She had an aggressive, fiery spirit that made her stand out from the rest of the skaters. In addition, she had astonishing, breath-taking skills that made history. Tony Hawk was an overall interesting man that was not just known for skateboarding. He was also very known as a businessman. He gained a lot of money from things like video games, clothing lines, and also being a commentator at the X games for a short time. He made more money with that stuff than he ended up with when he was skateboarding. He won his first awards as a skater when he was 16 and 17 years old. His career ended shorter than anyone would have expected because of the popularity really going down for skating and that meant less pay for the skateboarders.
